Mangalore : Foundation stone laying ceremony of Durga Sanjeevani Charitable hospital which will be jointly built by Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari temple, Manipal University and Mumbai Sanjeevani Trust was held at Ajaru near here on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering Shri Vishwapriya Theerta Swamiji of Adamaru mutt Udupi congratulated Suresh Rao for his effort to build a hospital in Kateel. He said that this kind of hospital is needed for a healthy society.

Speaking after lighting the traditional lamp district incharge minister Ramanath Rai praised the work of Suresh Rao.Mulki-Moodabidre MLA Abhayachandra Jain presided over the programme.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Abhayachandra Jain handed over the Aqua ATM Swachh cards to Suresh Rao. Shripathi explained about the card.MLA Mohiduddin Bava, DK district vice president Kasturi Panja, TP member Sukumar Sanil, Kateel GP president Geetha Poojarthi, vice president Kiran Kumar Shetty, thinker Chakravarthy Sulibele, Harinarayana Asranna and many others were present.

Sanjeevani Charitable Trust, Mumbai, will construct a 100-bed secondary hospital at Kateel in Mangaluru. The hospital, to be known as Kateel Sanjeevani Hospital, will be managed by Manipal University. As per the MoU signed on Wednesday, the Trust will construct the hospital to provide medical benefits to the economically poor sections of the society while Manipal University will manage and run it.

An advisory board of nine members comprising two members from the Sanjeevani Trust, five from Manipal University, one from Kateel Temple and one prominent person from the locality will be constituted.

The signatories to the MoU were, Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, Manipal University, and Dr Suresh Rao, Trustee Sanjeevani Trust.
