 Udupi : Tonse valaya brahmana samithi is celebrating its 20^th anniversary, (2016-2017). In continuation of its monthly celebrations, on 26-02-2017 samithi felicitated  2 very famous personalities of Tonse valaya Brahmana samithi ,at Sri Ganapathi mutt , Padukudru.

           Dr. Padukudru Laxminarayan Rao, Manipal & Sri Padukudru Narayan Bhat, Chennai were those 2 multi talented personalities.

         Sri Padukudru Narayan Bhat, Chennai is the son of late.P.Srinivas Bhat(ex-priest of Sri Ganapathi mutt, Padukudru )and late Janakiamma. Mr.Bhat was the student of Hindu Higher Primary school, kemmannu,Govt .Fisheries high school (now govt jr. college) and graduated from  MGM udupi.

At Udipi he had worked as sub-editor of Udayavani daily and later shifted to Chennai. At Chennai he started his “Bhat’s advertising Agency services” and was the first person to be elected as the president of Tamilnadu outdoor advertising association. He published his own news paper “Supporter” .He is also the Editor of “ Alegalu “(kannada) Hipnotic ,Lions bulletin . He is expert in Rekhi healing, Accupuncture, Accupressure, Hipnotherapy  also.

  Mr Bhat produced a Tamil serial “ Manasu maripochi” which won the best serial award in 1991.He was appointed by Tamilnadu Govt as President of “ Samskara  bharathi” a prestigious association of Tamilnadu. The Karnataka Rajyothsava Samithi, Chennai has conferred Mr.Bhat the prestigious “Chennai Kannada Rathna award” in 2014. Mr.Bhat, a multifaced personality is also a member of Film Censor Board.

         Dr.Padukudru Laxminarayan Rao, known as Dr.P.L.N Rao is the son of late P.Krishnyya and late P.Saraswathiamma of Padukudru .He was born in 1941.

        He finished his primary education in Hindu Higher Elementary School, Kemmannu, high school education in Milagres High School, Kallyanpur, and PUC in St. Philomenas College, Mysore. He obtained his MBBS degree from Mysore Medical College, Mysore completing his internship in 1966.

      After completing the course, he came to Manipal in pursuit of a job. He met Dr. TMA Pai, the founder and Dr. A Krishna Rao, the then Dean of KMC. Dr. Laxminarayana Rao was appointed as an asst. lecturer in the dept. of Physiology and started his teaching career, teaching students of Pharmacy, dental and medical courses. He soon gained popularity as a very good teacher and continued to teach MBBS, MSc. and MD physiology students. He was awarded the Best Teacher award four times during his teaching tenure.

        Dr.P. L.N. Rao got his Masters degree in physiology under the able guidance of Dr. A Krishna Rao in 1972 from Mysore University and got promoted to various higher posts. He became HOD and Professor of Physiology, and in the year 1984, he was offered the vice principal’s post. In the following year, he became the dean of KMC in which post he continued to serve for 17 long years.

         When KMC international Center was started, he was offered the position of the chairmanship of the physiology dept. in which post he continued for about 6 years.

        Following this, he was appointed as the Registrar of Evaluation of Manipal University for 4 years 8 months, a challenging responsibility, very well carried out. Under his stewardship, examinations were carried on time and results were announced on the stipulated date. All India entrance exams were conducted in various centers all over India.

        During all these years, he continued his teaching responsibility, gaining more and more popularity among his students and colleagues. He completed 50 years of his teaching career in august 2016. During this period, he set several records. He was never late to class, never cancelled class and never took a complete day’s casual leave. He also helped many students with their learning process.
