Preliminary survey conducted to widen Kemmannu Main Road.
Kemmannu, Feb 24, 2017: Eternal traffic jam, No parking space, difficulties to walk for pedestrians, sharp hair pin bend, cramped sewage drains could very well be the things of the past if the planned road widening dream project is realized In Kemmannu.
A preliminary survey and marking 25 feet and 30 feet wide road starting from the Panchayat road Kemmannu Bridge was conducted last week by the Panchayat and citizens involved in the initiative.
The initiative was initiated by Mr. Pramod Madwaraj when he was felicitated by Kemmannites on becoming the minister in the Karnataka Government last year. Mr. Pramod had said that if the Panchayat gets the land acquired, he will release the required funds immediately. Following that the Panchayat members led by Panchayat President Mrs. Fauzia Sadiq has held a meeting with the land and building owners and convinced them about the need of wider road to solve the traffic problems. Generally most of the owners are supportive of the idea.
However, this survey is only the first step in a long process with land acquisition, compensation and demolition of buildings. Residents co-operation is must such developmental project.
Zilla Panchyat Member Janarthdan Thonse, Panchayat President, members, Mrs. Veronica Cornelio, Ex Panchayat President Mr.Nityananda Kemmannu, Mr.Sadiq Hoode, Mr. Rehamatulla, Mr. Madhav Rao, Mr. Ronald Menezes, Mr. Felix Pinto are along with the other prominent persons are taking great interest to see the project is a success.
Hope the dream come true in the very near future.

So kindly co-operate and don’t give alternative suggestion build the road here and there. Better transport inside kemmannu will give better land value so if you lost little land don’t cry you will get good return. Co-operate with the panchayat and give your land. Kemmannu definitely deserves better road not some ugly worn out buildings.
If they refuse to do so please let me know and I will do the needful ...
Once flourished town like Kallianpur specially kadavina Bagil is a ghost town now.
Moral: develop tourism and thrive.
First construct the building then start demolish the shops for road widening.
The irony is when we have seen the congested kalsank road bacoming two lane road why not kemmannu. Shame on those who are obstacle to these widening project or else panchayath shall look in to alternative roads to ply between carmel school and kemmannu bridge.
Keep Kemmannu Pete as heritage site.
Use the Pete Rd for bike parking for liqour bar customer s.
Once upon a time there was a small skinny king. They called him Huli the tiger, even though he was not a terror. His kingdom was small, very fertile, surrounded by little properties of simple petty farmers. Oh, yes, this king inherited all what he had. He never added not even an acre of land to his property. He was afraid of moving vehicles, like rickshaw, cars, or trucks. Therefore he never bothered to build lanes or roads, and never allowed any vehicles to drive through his kingdom, even though his neighbors begged him for roads.
His neighbors, even though they were poor, had the ability to think forward and were modern progressive minded. They had cars and small trucks. But they could not drive their cars to their homes, because, this king’s property had no roads, which was an impediment. They had to park their vehicles far away. This king was very nervous one too. He was afraid of snakes, and of course of cobras. Just adjacent to his main entrance to his property there was a Naga Bana. When this Huli’s newly married wife came to know that there are snakes, she made Huli to build a snake proof house. The floor tiles were so smooth, no snake could crawl. The walls, both inside and out were smooth and slippery. The windows and doors were fortified with wire mesh double doors. Cats and dogs guarded the yards.
You see folks, God works in mysterious ways. A golden eagle spotted a snake, swooped down and picked up the snake. No where else to sit down and eat its lunch, the eagle descended and sat on the roof of this Huli’s tallest house in the neighborhood. The eagle could not sit down comfortably because even the roof tiles were very smooth and slippery. The eagle had to let go of the snake from its claws in disgust.
The snake slowly slithered down to the roof edge, and smoothly crawled under the roof edge tile, and fell in the bed of Huli who was taking a hot summer siesta along with his wife.No reader needs any narration from me as to what must have happened to this couple when the cobra fell on them in bed. It’s not known whether the cobra bit Huli’s wife or not but she went unconscious instantly.
Huli had no choice but to call his neighbors for help to transport his wife to a nearby hospital in Manipal. All his under paid servants ran off miles away hearing there is snake in the snake proof house! Without any bargaining, Huli agreed to build a road through his property just like that! Just see the power of Naga the Snake God! There were four cars ready to take his one wife. The lady was carried on a palanquin to the cars, Oh, yes, folks, his wife is fine, may be because he agreed to build the road!
BUT, whether Huli will keep his promise to build the road remains to be seen. Next time, the Cobra may bite both of them? Will someone give copy of this article to Huli? You all know who Huli is! Rings the bell? There is one in your neighborhood!
Why a simple road building has to be so complicated? The road name could be “Huli the Tiger.†Thanks fellows for making my brain cells to swell!
Everyday it’s a nightmare for the road users including children.
