Udupi : Jcrt Wing, JCI Kallianpura, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal and Women Cell of Milagres College, Kallianpur jointly celebrated International Women’s Day 2017 at Milagres Silver Jubilee Hall, Kallianpur on Wednesday, 8^th March, 2017.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muralidhar V. Pai Professor and HoD, Department of OBG, Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Manipal, said that International Women’s day to celebrate womanhood which day puts the social, political, cultural, economic achievements of women and their significant contributions to the society in the limelight. Each woman plays a crucial role in shaping the society and people all across the globe join hands to pay homage to women. Woman has better compassion. When there is women table, there would be zero conflict. But even now also the sex ratio in India lowers than men, he said.

During the programme, Jaycee Pancharahna Puraskar presented to five women achievers by the guests on the dais. There was Sabitha Umesh as Jaycee Manavatha Rathna Puraskar for social cause, Asha Poojary as Jaycee Kishan Rathna Puraskar for Agriculture, Mary Fernandes as Jaycee Udyama Rathna Puraskar for Entrepreneur, Sheril Vigiliya as Jaycee Vidya Rathna for Education and Pratheeksha K. Poojary Khel Rathna for Sports. There were felicitated with garland, basket of fresh fruits, shawl, memento and rose.

Dr. Gerald Pinto Principal of Milagres College presided the occasion. Dr. Anice George Dean of MCON Manipal, Prashanth Acharya President of JCI Kallianpura, Rcrt Devika Prashanth Chairperson Jcrt Wing, JCI Kallianpura, Dr. Judith Noronha of Manipal, Savitha Kumari Principal of Milagres PU College, Prof Clara Menezes Convener of Women cell, Milagres College and other among were present on the dais.

Jcrt Rohini Umesh Amin Programme Co-ordinator welcomed the gatherings. Shereen compered the programme. Training programme on priority women health problems held after the inauguration of the programme. Jaycees members, students and others were participated on the occasion.
