Udupi : Protecting the environment is prime constitutional duty of all and should be taken up on priority, said District and Session Judge t. Venkatesh Naik.
He was speaking after inaugurating the district level “Parisara Mitra Shale’ award ceremony which was organized by Udupi Unit of the Karnataka Pollution control Board in association with the district administration, Public Education Department, District Legal Service Academy and Karnataka State Science Association Udupi at Atal Bihar Vajpayee Hall, Rajathadri, Manipal on Tuesday, 14th March, 2017.
He said that the protecting the environment is everyone responsibility which is incorrect to enjoy privileges and not practice responsibilities. We must know that the global warming is increasing very fast. Every individual either child or adults should take oath to protect the environment which is massively polluted.
Magistrate said that the awareness on environment of nature conservation should be created at school level. The clean environment and surroundings will ensure better health and one can live in better.
Anuradha G., KAS, Assistant Commissioner also spoke during the occasion. Dinakar Babu President of Zilla Panchayat presided over the programme and spoke his presiding address.
The Parisara Mitra Shale award was given away to Sunder Puranik Memorial Government Composite High School, Pervaji, in Karkala. The award included the cash prize of Rs. 30,000/ and beautiful trophy.
More than 300 applications were received and 33 schools able to reach the final round. The team led by Arvind Hebbar was visited the schools in 45 days and after all in the final round 21 schools were selected. All the other schools who enter in final round was awarded with the certificate and cash prize of Rs. 5,000/.
Smt. Latha Civil Judge and member secretary of District Legal Service Academy also spoke during the occasion. Amjad H. K. Advocate gave the lecture on fundamental responsibilities and environment during the occasion.
Rajashekar Puranik Senior Enviornment official, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Mangaluru divison, U. R. Madyasta President of State Science Parishat, Dr. H. Laxmikanth environment official, Divakar Shetty Deputy Director Public Education Department were present on the dais.
Dr. Laxmikanth gave keynote address and welcomed the gatherings. Rajendra Bhat compered the programme.
