Udupi : As per the National Crime Data, since ten years the crime incidents from the children and on children drastically increased which being upset and anxious, said Uma M. G.,  Member Secretary Karnataka State Legal Service’s Academy.

Speaking on the inauguration of one day seminar on role of public and police under Children Favour Legal services and Children Defense Project 2015 which was jointly organized by Udupi District Legal Services Academy, District Administration, Department of Police, District Bar Association, Vaikunta Baliga Law College, Kunjibettu and Abiyoga Sangha at Dr. T. M. A. Pai Hall, Manipal on Sunday, 1^st April, 2017.

She said that no one bad and criminal on birth. The environment of child growth would decide their future. There will be need to know about the children who under privilege, need to know their atrocity, helpless situation and so on. During such condition there would be need legal and police guidance to the public.

The 40% children population in India around is less than 18 years of age. Without the knowledge of law of the country, the children going in wrong path of their future. Hence the children need the help of proper system of the country and should help them by the public, judiciary and police. Children are the future of the country. For the successful future of the children need help from all and it would be possible to the all department’s responsibility, she said.

The chief guest on the occasion District Sessions Judge and Civil Judge Venkatesh Naik T also spoke and said that during the year 2014/15 in the country more than 90,000 criminal cases on children recorded. The members of the public need to friendly environment with children and should cooperate with cases against the children.

There are several laws for the safety of the children, but it needs to know about the laws.   All departments should make use of such laws for the protection of the children. To help children in the district, from grama level to district level with the cooperation of departments for the compensation, task force to be started soon, said Priyanka Mary Francis, District Commissioner of Udupi.

District Police Superintendent  K T Balakrishna presided over the programme . In his presidential address, he said that in regard to safety of the children, training has given to policemen during the week. For the investigations separate women police stations were started and in every stages the Nodel officials to be appointed.

During the seminar Chief Senior Civil Judge and chief Magistrate Shivaram K, Vykunta Baliga Law College Principal Prof Prakash Kanive, State Children Rights Commission member Dr. Vanita Thoravi and government official Shanthi Bai were present.

Additional Police Superintendent Vishuvardhan welcomed the gatherings. District Legal Services Academy member secretary Latha proposed vote of thanks. Manmohan Rao official at SP office compered the programme.
