Kuwait: Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK ) organises  family get-together

Kuwait, Mar 4: The Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK) family through the dedicated efforts of the committee members and active participation of the TKK members held a successful get-together on March 17 at the Mishref Garden. It was that eventually led to the success of the family picnic.

The event began with the Kuwait and Indian National Anthem sung by the TKK kids with live music which boosted the energy and enthusiasm of the all the participants and volunteers of the event.Tulu Koota president Wilson D’Souza welcomed the gathering and inaugurated the event by treating the guests in the traditional custom of Tulunadu by distributing ’Ole Bella’ (palm jiggery) and water. The sports secretary, Rajesh Poojary performed the customary breaking of the coconut for an auspicious beginning. The idea was conceptualized by Suresh Salian and was very well coordinated by the sports secretary.

The president and the chief guest hoisted the Tulu Koota flag. TKK first lady Reshma D’Souza along with the TKK kids marched with a torch, which symbolized the spreading of ’the light of spirit, knowledge’, followed by lighting of the flame by the president and the chief guest. The TKK kids added flavour to the event through a Zumba dance performance directed and coordinated by Shobha Harish Bhandary.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The chief guest of the day, Ashraf Ayyoor - managing director of Grand Majlis Restaurant Co, associate in Badr Al Samaa Kuwait and heading many similar organizations. He is a well recognised personality through his philanthropic activities. In his speech he expressed his delight to be part of the event wherein people from all religions of Tulunadu had gathered and united as a family. He distributed free Badr Al Samaa Hospital medical checkup vouchers to interested members of Tulu Koota.

Various games had been arranged for all the family members of Tulu Koota of all age groups. Children between 0-2 years played musical chairs and kids aged between 2-4 years enjoyed tricycle race and rabbit race competitions. Similarly, the elder kids of age group 5 to 6 were thrilled to take part in the frog and running mix race and Vrikshasana, a yoga meditation posture, where they had to stay calm, balancing on one leg. Kids in the age bracket of 6 to 10 years and 10 to 16 years actively participated and showed off their strength in the games listed in their category. As expected, the fun and competitions were not limited to kids and teenagers alone. Games like Kutti Donne, Shot-put were organized for the gents, lagori and football race were organized for the ladies. Breaking the pot – blindfolded by the gents and ladies attracted the huge crowd.

Team games were given equal importance and drew the attention of members, which displayed the team and sportsmanship spirit among the participants. Kabbadi, volleyball, throwball and tug of war were the team games.
Ensuring that the members remain active for the entire day, Tharendra Shettigar conducted quiz for kids, ladies and general category with interesting questions related to Tulunadu culture, tradition and sports. All the committee members worked with joy and as a team throughout the day.

Housie housie hosted by Chandrahasa Shetty and Yadunath Alva captivated the crowd. The event was beautifully hosted by Swarna Shetty, Manoj Shetty, Dr Preeti Shetty, Purandara Manchi, Sushma Bangera and Lionel Mascarenhas.
