Pangla : Holy Thursday Observed With Solemnity Washing Of The Feet And Holy Hour

Pangla , 15 April 2017 : Holy Thursday also known as Maundy  Thursday Was Observed With Solemnity And reverence in St. John the Evangelist Church Pangla on April 13, 2017 at 6.30 pm Which included the homily “ Washing of the feet ” and “ The Holy Adoration at the end of the Service.

The Solemn Holy Thursday Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Dr. Leslie D’souza, the parish priest as the Chief celebrant assisted by Fr. Vincent Coelho, fr. Lawrence Mendonca  and  Deacon Roy Lobo.

In his homily Deacon Roy Lobo Emphasized on the Significance of the Maundy Thursday , there after the main celebrant ( Parish Priest ) washed the feet of 6 men and 6 women reminding the washing of the feet of 12 Apostles by Jesus  Christ. Following end of the mass, the Holy Eucharist was taken ceremoniously to the Altar of Repose while the main altar was stripped of the white covering and removing the flowers and leaving it bare as a symbol  of the eve of the passion and crucifixion of Jesus on Christ on the next day, That is Good Friday. The reverential transfer of the Holy Eucharist to the Altar of Repose was followed by Adoration by Br. Jithesh Castelino There after the faithful of various words continued the Adoration with reverence.

Good Friday

Pangla St. John the evangelist Church Pangla observed Good Friday with devotion and religious Fervor on Friday 14th April 2017. The Death of Jesus Christ on the cross meant the Solvation of all mankind. Good Friday also called as Holy Friday. Great Friday, Friday of Mourning is a day of Sadness, day of fasting and prayer. Throughout the day large number of faithful met the Jesus where present at alter of Repose.

In the morning at 10.00 am more than one hour the way of the Cross held with much devotion in the church grounds and these reflected upon the sufferings and death of Jesus the large number of faithful were present. The main liturgical service of the Good Friday, The Commemoration of passion of Christ was held in the evening at 5.30 pm. The Service began with the chief celebrant Rev. Fr. Vincent Coelho came to the alter in a silent procession along with Rev. fr Leslie D’souza Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mendonca and Deacon Roy lobo. the Service included scripting readings invocations and prayers for various intentions of the church and veneration of the cross.

In his homily Fr. Vincent Highlighted seven words by Jesus on the cross and importance of the day. After that the unveiling of the cross and Veneration of the Cross took place. The last part of the liturgy was the Holy Communion following which the faithful disposed and went to their respective homes in silence the whole liturgical commentary was read by Br. Jithesh castelino.
