Udupi, April 16, 2017: The Faithful of Pangla calebrated easter on Saturday night to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ. gathered and large numbers in the church ground to bay obeisance and renew the baptismal oath during Easter vigil mass.
Parish priest fr. Leslie D’Souza blessed the holy fire prior to the ceremony and lit the pascal candle on the church ground began with prayers. He then embedded five grains of incense in the holy and glorious wounds, may Christ the Lord guard us and protect us. Amen.
The candle was then processed through the altar. Deacon Roy lobo lifted the candle at three different times, singing : the light of of Christ (lumen Christi), next followed by the Glorious Easter song the catholic church : the exsulted (Easter proclamation). During the Easter vigil five readings were proclaimed from both old and new testaments. In the homily chief celebrant rev dr. leslie d’souza highlighted the significance of Easter and called Easter as “ Feast of Peace “. After the homily the Easter water was blessed. Part of the liturgy included the sprinkle of the water and all renewed their baptismal promises.
Fr Leslie, the parish priest conveyed the greetings of Easter & thanked deacon Roy for his service as deacon in the parish. Later Fr Lawrence mendonca Released the New Parish Directory. Bro Jithesh castelino Compered the liturgical commentary.
