Kemmannu, May 29: Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, who served in Kemmannu Parish as Parish Priest for the last 3 years has been transferred to St. John the Evangelist church, Sankarpura Pangla. A formal Farewell Function by the Parishioners was held at the church hall on Sunday, May 28.

Celebratory mass was offered at 10.15 with Rev. Fr. Herald Pereira, Fr. Edward Oliveira and Fr. Wilson Andrade being the co-celebrants. After the mass, parishioners gathered at the church hall for the emotional farewell programme. Children welcomed the gathered with a prayer dance. Church Vice President Mr. Charles Lewis welcomed the dignitaries on the dais. Church Secretary Mrs. Felcy D’Souza read out the “Maan Patrr” highlighting the spiritual and normal developmental works done by Fr. Ferdinand during his tenure of 3 years in the church. Dignitaries on stage along with Elders of the Church Mr. John Anthony D’ Souza, Mrs. Celine Oliveira and Mr. John Fredrick Quadros presented the “Maan Patrr” along with Garland, Shawl and fruit basket.

Sauharda Samiti , Inter Religious co-ordinating Committee members also felicitated the Priest on the occasion and presented their Memento. Dr. Mohammed Rafiq on behalf the committee spoke and praised Fr. Ferdinand for his cooperation in forming the Samiti and its active role in binding all communities.

On his reply Fr. Ferdinand Thanked all specially mentioning a few for their full co-operation during his tenure here and thanked all Parishioners for their complete support and taking his pre mature transfer in a calm way.

Ward Gurkars and Representatives, Members and Office bearers of various church associations wished and presented bouquets to the Father on the occasion. Parishioners wished and seeked Fathers blessing.

The emotional programmed conclude with a sumptuous buffet Lunch.

Rev. Fr. Victor Gerald Dsouza currently serving at Kandlur Church in Kundapura Varado will be taking over on 1st June from Fr. Ferdinand. Fr. Ferdinand will take charge in St. John the Evangelist church, Sankarpura Pangla on June 2.
