Udupi : In order to solve the drinking water crisis under the Task Force and National Rural Drinking Water Supply, within three months the report should be submitted to the government on the work undertaken for the purpose, otherwise strict action will be taken, said Pramod Madhwaraj, District in-charge Minister, Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment, Karnataka State.

He was chairing meeting of Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) at Rajathadri, Dr. V. S. Acharya Memorial Hall, DC office, Manipal said that separate meeting to be conducted on drinking water supply aid spent for the purpose. Even though there was strict order to distribute tanker water, there was complaint received regarding the improper distribution of tanker water for the people.

There will be 1351 seats under RTE available, out of that only 695 seats registered. In second stage 130 seats admitted and still 400 RTE seats are pending as per the DDPI.

As per the RTE in Urban areas in Udupi district three no school village existed and in third round if RTE seats not filled, instructions will be followed under state government. The school should provide shoes to all the students.

Pramod Madhwaraj pulled up officials for giving differing statements on the availability of sand. The issue of separate sand policy for coastal districts was being studied by the government, but there was no decision on it so far because bureaucrats had said there could not be two policies for the same issue as the sand was extracted from rivers in different districts.

However sand had mostly been extracted from CRZ areas of the river in Udupi district. The district administration already had cleared files of extraction in CRZ areas as per the directions of the National Green Tribunal. It was expected to be cleared at the state level in a fortnight. Due to ban on fishing from 1^st June to 31^st July, the extraction can begin from after July from CRZ areas.

Pratapchandra Shetty MLC expressed his dissatisfaction over the maintenance of some vented dams in Kundapur taluk as there was intrusion of salt water in some dams.

Pramod Madhwaraj told to the officers to motivate people to take up individual works such as digging open wells and repairing cattle sheds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act Scheme.

Due to increasing vehicles accident on NH66, Pramod Madhwaraj informed the Superintendent of Police Udupi district that during the time of expansion of National Highway, due to NH contractors negligence lot of accidents were took place. Pramod ordered SP for file negligence case against them. SP said that already precaution had taken for decreasing accidents through various safety sign boards on the Highway areas.

The Bankers cooperation needed to avail loan at the rate of 2% for Fisher women. The minister gave information that separate meeting to be conducted for the issue.

The district health officials informed that Janaric medicians will be available at district hospital campus, Kinnimulki and Kundapura. Minister directed that need to avail all medicines to the poor people.

Food department official Sadashiva informed that the fresh 5490 fresh application received for BPL cards.

Minister said that under Tourism department 49 taxis were distributed. Malpe Padukere beach should be developed as Tourist Hub.

Rs. 10 crores sanctioned to Udupi City Municipality and need to develop the city very fast.
