Udupi : Sri Krishna Math under the guidance of Sri Veshwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math on Saturday, 24^th June in a historically on the last day of Ramadan fasting, held an Iftar get together with Muslims brothers in the Sri Krishna Math.

Sri Veshwesha Theertha Swamiji distributed dates to the Muslim community members while ending fast. The Muslim brothers offered Namaz prayer in congregation hall ‘Brahma Anna’ at the Sri Krishna Math itself.

Prior to the breaking Muslim brother breaking fasting in his message Sri Veshwesha Theertha Swamiji said that Muslims have shown lot of affection during most of the time. Even the Muslim brothers showed their love for me in Kasargod, Mangaluru, Bhatkal and Kasargod. There should be need to live together in harmony and affection with each other. There is an atmosphere of turmoil presently in most of the places including coastal districts. This Iftar Souharda get together should spread peace in the society.

He said that God is one to all the humankind and we are all children of one God. Hindus and Muslims should live together in harmony and Souharda among us. When there was attempt to gherao Sri Krishna Math, Muslims came forward to defend the Math. There is history that we in Udupi live together since long years in harmony.

The Khateeb of Anjuman Masjid Inayatulla Razvi, M A Gafoor Chirman of Karnataka Minority Development Corporation, Sri Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha, junior Pejawar Swamiji, Rahim Uchil, BJP Minority cell, Ansar Ahmed of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Gurme Suresh Shetty of BJP, Abid Ali of Congress and others were present.

Around 150 Muslim brothers were taken part in the iftar souharda koota and participated in the Namaz in the temple.

Speaking with media persons, M A Gafoor said that the Pejawar Math Swamiji’s message of peace should go around the world. Haji Abdulla had shown tremendous communal harmony with Hindu brothers and given oil to the Sri Krishna Math to hold Deepotsava. The Krishnapura Math donated land to Mother of Sorrows Church. We are all Muslims, Christians, Hindus and others living together in harmony for decades. The historic decision to hold Iftar Koota and offering Namaz in the temple which will be appreciated and it is sign of communal harmony shown by the Pejawar Math.
