Udupi : This is an egg that is perfectly cooked. Whatever your personal preference; scrambled, half boiled or omelette, you will love the way this is done. Newcomer Raj B. Shetty a prematurely bald 28 year old Kannada lecturer from Mangaluru and his team have pulled off a good one, a simple yet impressive film shown their mettle.

Speaking to the media persons during press meet at Udupi, Raj B Shetty writer, director and actor said that the film was released from 7th July, 2017 with massive response from the people.  Due to impressive efforts from the team, the film have pulled off a good one, a simple yet impressive film, yet another team of newcomers have shown their mettle.

Raj B Shetty said that his self esteem is hurt, he decides to in a bride for himself on his own. The result is hilarious but sensitive journey of discovering true love, beauty and purpose. Films that tell you that love does not require a beautiful face is not uncommon. Geneshana Madudve was the most comical film with such a tale. Films exploring the relationships subtly with a touch of humour too aren’t uncommon.

He said that Ondu Motteya Kathe does not follow in the footsteps of such earlier Kannada films though. There is freshness in the approach. From the dialogues to the performances, there is a touch of new thinking. Motte does fall into familiar approaches in the second half. The plot is wrapped in a predictable manner. But with everything handled subtly, it comes across as a pioneering effort.

He said that if there’s one reason you could easily love film, it’s that this really is a film about people like us. This is not a hero studded with six pack abs or a size zero heroine with perfect looks and flawless skin pretending to be just another boy or girl next door. This makes the message at the heart of the film much more relatable.

The hero of the film, Kannada lecturer , the film follows Janardhana (Ravi B Shetty) eager to get married. The only problem is that all the prospective brides he goes to see take one look at his bald head and prefer to make googly eyes at his brother with a full head of hair and better looks instead.

Frustrated with rejection, Janardhana embarks on attempts to find love himself, instead of relying on a marriage broker’s dubious abilities. But it seems that Janardhana who wants women to look past his bald head, can’t seem to do the same for himself or others and remains obsessed with looks himself. Wo when Sarala (Shailashree) actually likes him because he is a nice guy, all he can see is a fat girl.

story plays out on the surface as a light hearted story of the unlucky in love man that we have seen play out dozens of times before. Janardhana’s far too earnest attempt to write a love letter that sounds like one of the archaic poems he teaches in class. Along with this letter why don’t you give her a dictionary too, suggests his love guru a peon in the college. But the film laughs with rather than mocking those who are unluckily rated low in the marriage market because of their appearance.

The film works so well because it takes its subjects seriously enough to also be able to gently laugh at them. So all of the characters are played with a heartwarming sincerity that makes them genuinely likeable, completely relatable people that could never be slotted within a formula. While Raj really takes the cake with his fragile masculine insecurities played close to the surface, there are almost no weak performances from the cast.

The film also benefits from some fundamentally good but gimmick free cinematography and an instantly likeable sound track by Midhun Mukundan. The film also makes excellent use of Dr. Rajkumar using the late veteran’s photos and old songs as both comic commentary and narration for Janardhana’s tale.

Raj B, Shetty appears in the leade role along with Usha Bhandary, Shailashree, Prakash Tuminadu, Amrutha Naik, Shreya Anchan, Vj Vineeth, Rahum Amin, Deepak Rai and Ramdas playing supportive roles.

He said that the budget of the film was Rs. one crore and already the film is progressively moving head with tremendously.

Raj B. Shetty, Usha Bhandary, Shailashree, Prakash Tuminadu and others were present.
