Udupi : Billavara Seva Sangha, Sathekatte, Kallianpura along with Billavara Mahila unit jointly organized tradition event “Aatidonji Dina” at Those Nagappa Complex Hall at Santhekatte, Kallianpur near here on Sunday, 23^rd July, 2017.

The programme began with invocation by the women members. Sri Janardhan Thonse, ZP member was presided over the programme. The resource person of the day, Smt Nalinadevi M. R. Kannada lecturer in Government PU College, Hiriyadka, Shekar Gujjarbettu, President of Billavara Seva Sangha, Santhekatte Kallianpur, Naveenchandra Suvarna Adve, member APMC, Udupi, Laxman Amin of Amin Bearings Co., Udupi, Suresh Jathhan of Jathhan Petrol Services, Hampankatte, Kemmannu, Shekar Karkera President of Billava Parishat, Katapady, Praveen Poojary, President of Billava Yuva Vedike, Udupi, Ramesh Kumar President, Yuvavahini, Udupi unit, Bhaskar Jathan, Naveen Poojary Advocate, Jagadish Kemmannu Secretary, Umesh Poojary, Aruna R. Adva President of women unit, Sundari S Poojary Hon President of Mahila unit, Treasurer and other among were present on the dais. All the guests were honoured with shawl and Bachhire Pool as tradition.

The programme was traditionally inaugurated with lighting the lamp by Vishwanath Sanil and other guests on the dais. Janardhan Tonse traditionally played Chenne Mune game individually.

Addressing the community, Nalinadevi said that the various traditions in the tulunadu especially during the month of Aati, (Ashada) vanished very fast. The earth becomes dry. The treasurer of the earth becomes diminishing. The tulunadu culture in the society no more. The children and students are not aware of the tulunadu traditions like in food, customs etc. All religions and castes were observing seriously their traditions in the society with unity and love.

She said that for the rainy season people used to prepare and preserve various food items prior to rain which was very heavy rain during the month of June, July in rainy season. It  is responsibility of the  parents to train their children about our traditions, culture and earlier generation customs of our society. Not only the food but also some plant medicines were used for the better health. She gave some of the tips for the parents about the children on our traditions and so that the children not go for far away from the families and have touch with the family.

The guests on the dais were speaking during the occasion and gave their message. Janardhan Tonse during in his presidential address said that now a days especially youths organizing Kesaridh Onji Dina and organizing some of the plays which is not like Aatidonji Dina celebrations. There are lot of opportunities to show our tradition through the preparation of various foods especially prepared during the month of Aati. He also said that it will be our responsibility to train our children about our generation customs and traditions. Then we can some extent to keep our old traditions alive.

During the occasion winners of various games for the Sangha were distributed prizes by the guests of honour on the stage. The games conducted were Chennemani, Goli Gottu, Pokku, Toppuda Gobbulu. Kutti Donne, Kunta Bille, Lagori, Mutpati and Tarahi Kottuni.

The scholarship for meritorious students also distributed during the occasion. National level sports women and Volley Ball player Pratiksha Poojary of Milagres School was felicitated by the Sangha during the occasion.

Shekar Gujjarbettu President of the Sangha gave gratitude to the participants and conveyed the message that next time the participants should come on time, so that the occasion would be celebrated with grand manner.

Shekar Gujjarbettu welcomed the guests. Jagadish Kemmannu proposed vote of thanks while Murlidher Suvarna compered the programme beautifully.

Large number of participants were utilized the special Aati food with taste and vigor. The special menu of the “Aatid Onji Dina” dishes were as Pelakayida Gatti and Jeerigeda kasaya prior to the food. Thimare Chutney, Kudutha Chutney, Uppad Pachchir, Appada Adde, Thekkareda Talli, Nugel Meenda Chutney, Uppad, Marvai Sukkha, Thevu Padpe, Korida Sukkha, Kanadelada Gassi, Kori Rotti, Kanchalada Gassi, Thojank, Nurge Thoppu, Narvol Thoppuda Dose,Pathrade, Chilmida Adde, Pundi, Gunda, Kudutha Urunde, Urpel aritha nuppu, Ettida Saar, Aritha Urunde, Kudutha Saar, Payasa, Rasam, Kadale Gassi, Mulka etc.
