Doha- Qatar, 14 August 2017: Doha Qatar’s renowned singer Norbert Pereira at the Ashoka Hall of Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) presented YaadonKa Safar 2, a glorious tribute to great Hindi legendary musicians here on Friday August 11.

Music has always been a soul soother. Doha witnessed a grand musical extravaganza in Yaadon Ka Safar-2 on 11.08.17. This event, organised under the aegis of Indian Cultural Center (ICC), Embassy of India, Qatar,  was not only a humble tribute to the musical greats of Bollywood (including singers and musicians alike), albeit also enabled the audience to relive and sing along several popular numbers from the 60s till 90s.  Qatar’s renowned singer Norbert Pereira, aka Nobby, who specialises in Konkani music, presented the program along with his team of equally talented and accomplished singers.

The program was opened by Jane Crasto, who welcomed all the guests and artists to this evening.

The President of ICC Ms Milan Arun, was all praises and remained glued to her seat throughout the evening, thumping her feet with every number. She praised the efforts of Nobby and his team in promoting Indian music amongst the Indian residents here and encouraged Norbert and his team to keep singing.

The entire program was coordinated by Avaneesh Agarwal, a close friend of Nobby. Avaneesh, through his wit and humour, both in Hindi and English, ensured that  the audience was kept busy not only with enjoying the music, but also take back with them, interesting facts about the Indian Film Industry’s several music icons, arranged through a tricky series of questions on the Indian film music !

The audience was quizzed about the songs, lyricists and music directors and this generated an enhanced involvement of the audience in the program ! 

 Norbert Pereira, a renowned Konkani musician and singer, known popularly as Nobby by Konkani-music-lovers has created a niche for himself in Konkani music through his unique, innovative and creative compositions, conceived the mega show.
 
Despite being away from Mangaluru for long, he has remained in the hearts of Konkani-buffs through his melodious and memorable compositions. Many of Mangaloreans have no idea that Norbert is a great fan and follower of Hindi music. He said that he is privileged to have been born and lived through the age when legendary Mohammed Rafi, LataMangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle  took Hindi film music to celestial heights...it is this respect for these legends and his love for Hindi music that has pushed him to pursue this dream of organizing a concert of golden Hindi melodies in Doha.

YaadonKa Safar had some of the most memorable and utterly romantic songs that are crooned even today by young and old, gift of this golden era were carefully selected and sung by Norbert transpired the gathering to reminisce on their younger days, rekindle romance and fall in love again with such melodies.
 
Beautiful and melodious songs like AaneWala Phal Jane Wala,Choti si Asha, PhirMilaenge ChalteChalte, Dekha EkKwabTho, ,Ehtn iHasi EnthniKushi ,Bar Bar Dekho, Phela Pehla PyarHai,ChoriChori Jab Nazr Mili, Surmayya Ankiya Me,Kishore Kumar Songs Medley , Naino Me Sapna, Aaghebhi Jane Na Thu, Kya Koob Lagthi Ho, Hame Aur Jeeneki,O Mere Sona Re Sona, Jane Kaise Kab Kaha, Chehera Hai Ya Chand Kila, Maine Pooche Chand Se,WhoLadki Hai Kaha, Zindag iEk Safar Ye Suhana and many more were simply superb, in fact all 20 songs presented were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. It was sumptuous meal of romantic golden Hindi hits, each one enjoyed the evening and truly found them as good as the originals and that too simply using Karaoke tracks.
 
His wife Nancy joined Norbert by singing a hit duet, Chori Chori Jab Nazr Mili, Kya Koob Lagthi Ho and a solo ’EhtniHasiEnthniKushi ’. Talented Doha based singers Carol D’Souza, first runner up GVOM 5 a familiar singing star beautifully rendered solo, Choti Is Asha, Naino Me Sapna, O Mere Sona Re Sona and duets with Norbert: Dekha Ek KwabTho and Jane Kaise KabKaha with ease and versatility. Alphonse D’Silva, another singing star of Doha also rendered a Mohammed Rafi solo, Bar BarDekho, SurmayyaAnkiyanse and ClementFernandes first runner up GVOM 5 & very talented and has unique singing style sang  PhirMilaenge ChalteChalte, Chehera Hai Ya Chand Kila& duet with Carol. Young star of the evening was Clarissa Pinto who sang "Aagebee Jane Na tu" very beautifully.
 
Norbert’s passionate stamina and versatility motivated him to sing nearly for 2hours on stage, this speaks volumes about his talent as well as his junoon to remain attached with the Hindi music.
 
Avaneesh Agarwal compered both in English and Hindi with utmost humour did a excellent job and motivated the audience by quizzing them with questions related to the songs made it even more enjoyable.
Mrs. Milan Arun, President Indian Cultural Centre graced the occasion.  Mrs Jane Crasto felicitated Mrs. Milan Arun, and all artists on the stage.

Nancy and Norbert thanked Norbert Crasto, Francis Quadres and Felix Lobo for their support and giving away the prizes for the quiz winners. Norbert also thanked all the singers for making the show a memorable one. Sound and lighting was provided by ’Symphony’ Doha .Excellent photography was done by Gerald and Vijay
