Udupi : If the district administration fails to start sand extraction by 28^th August, a severe agitation will be launched, said Raghupathy Bhat, former MLA and Senior BJP leader.

Speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club during press meet on 23^rd August, Raghupathy Bhat said that since one and half years the sand extraction stopped and now almost five months have passed after the Green Tribunal vacated the stay allowing sand extraction in CRZ areas. But the district administration has failed to permit the traditionally extraction of the sand. Here, we can see that Pramod Madhwaraj District in-charge Minister direct interference in delaying permission for sand extraction. Even though the Environment Board has cleared the NOC on 5^th August, the district administration has unable to permit the sand extraction.

He said that the district administration formulated for issuing permits for traditional sand extraction seems to be irrelevant. It is said that the regulations do not permit politicians, criminals to extract sand. The applicants if they have applied for the sand mining that belongs to other village not allowed extracting sand.

The district administration stayed 45 permits were operational from the term of the former DC of Udupi district M.T. Reju and Dr. Vishal. There will be no meaning to stay for 45 permits. It is due to interference of the Pramod Madhwaraj. He allowed to give permits only Congress Workers which is objectionable.

Meanwhile Pramod Madhwarj is strongly in favour of M-Sand mafia in the district. Many people of the district are depending the business of sand mining which supports their livelihood. M-Sand is not suitable in coastal region for the construction of buildings. We can see the advertising board of M-Sand at the DC office. Pramod is encouraging the M-Sand will be unfortunate. He looking for the advertisement on M-Sand availability in the district. The other congress leaders like Oscar Fernandes and Vinaykumar Sorake were in favour of traditional sand extraction policy.
