Milagres Educational Institutions celebrated Teachers’ Day with unity and enthusiasm

Udupi : Milagres Educational Institutions Management under the leadership of Milagres College, Kallianpur near here organized Teachers’ Day at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall on 6th September, 2017 with enthusiasm and unity.

Very ev Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza Secretary of Catholic Educational Society of Udupi Diocese (CESU) presided over the programme. Prof. Manjunath Somaiji, Retired Professor of PPC, Udupi, great thinker, educationalist was the chief guest. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions and Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino Campus Director, Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha Asst Parish priest, Dr. Vincent Alva Principal of Milagres College, Smt. Savitha Kumari Principal of Milagres PU College, Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes SJ Principal of Milagres English Medium Schools, Paul Lobo Headmaster of Milagres High School, Veera D’Silva Headmistress of Milagres English Medium Primary School, Florine D’Souza Headmistress of SVP Higher Primary School, Sr. Susheela Monteiro Headmistress of St. Joseph’s Higher Primary School were present on the dais.

 Prior to the programme all the teachers and guests were warmly welcomed by traditionally at the entrance of the Milagres Tri-centenary Hall. The program began with invocation prayer song by the lecturers of Milagres College.  Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo welcomed the gatherings. All the teachers of seven Milagres Educational Institutions were honoured by Rev Fr. Lawrence C. D’Souza by giving rose, pen and writing pad.

During the occasion, Udupi district level best teachers’ Award winner 2017, Miss Collin D’Souza was felicitated with shawl, bouquet of flowers, memento and fresh fruits who dedicated her service for more than 32 years.

Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha, the former student of the chief guest, Prof manjunath Somaiji introduced the guest. In his motivational address, Prof M. Somaiji said that Teachers’ Day is like an occasion and opportunity to pay tribute and gratitude to their teachers by the students and the management for their continuous selfless and precious efforts in shaping the future of the students. Teachers really play key roles towards the education and students life and should generally became a person with proper vision, knowledge and experience. Teaching profession is a profession of great responsibility than any other jobs and has great impact on the growth, development etc of the wellbeing of the students as well nation. If teacher is patriotic and devoted to the national cause and realizes his responsibility, he or she can produce a race of patriotic men and women who would religiously place the country above the community and national gain above communal advantage.

In his presidential remark, Fr Lawrence pointed out the contribution made by the teachers of the various institutions of Milagres and for their devotion for the cause of education and for the better society indeed.

Dr. Vincent Alva proposed vote of thanks and Amritha proposed vote of thanks.

Milagres College faculty under the stewardship of Nisha Crasta various programmes like solo singing, group singing by women, Bharathanatyam, dances by women and sensible silence by men dance held during the occasion. There were spot games were conducted by Nisha Crasta and winners were distributed fabulous prizes.

Around 200 faculty of Milagres Educational institutions were participated during the celebration. All the gathered refreshed with mouthful refreshments at the end of the programme.
