SVP Kemmannu Unit celebrates Annual Day.

Kemmannu, Sep 25, 2017: St.Vincent da Paul society, Kemmannu unit, celebrated its Annual day on Sunday 24 September 2017.The celebration began with the Sunday mass celebrated by Carmalite guest priest Fr. Ryan Pais along with Parish Priest Fr. Victor D Souza. Unit members conducted the liturgy of the mass.

The unit, which was started in February 1969, has completed 48 years of selfless service to the society. At present 12 men and 6 women are actively involved with the unit and offer their service. The unit has sponsored 7 poor families and provides basic food items to them. It also sponsors 2 poor students for their education. Members visit the poor and sick families every week and enquire about their well-being.

After the mass, a function was arranged at the church hall for the donors and well-wishers of SVP. Parish priest Fr. Victor D Souza, Guest priest Fr,Ryan Pais, SVP President Mr. Vincent Barnes, Secretary Mrs Benedicta Fernandes were present on the dais. Mrs. Maximin Andrade and Mrs.Florine D Souza compeered the function. Treasurer Mr. Oswald Rodrigues presented the Annual accounts.

Fr. Victor spoke on the occasion and lauded the selfless active service rendered by the society in the church. Convent superior Sr. Priya Maria dwelt on the life of Fr. Fredrick Ozanam, the founder of SVP.

Special gifts were presented to the adopted families. . Breakfast sponsored by Mr. Archibald Menezes and Mrs. Clotilda Saldanha was served to all those who were present. Mr. Jayaprakash D Souza proposed the vote of thanks. The function ended with prayers.
