Udupi Diocesan YCS Zoom 2017 held at St Joseph’s Church premises, Belman

Udupi : Yuva Catholic Vidyarthi Sanchalan (YCS) of Udupi Diocese organized “YCS – Zoom 2017” at St Joseph’s Church premises at Balman on Friday, 20th October, 2017.
Monsignor Dr. Baptist Menezes inaugurated the programme with traditionally and later addressed the gatherings.
There were five competitions like Quiz Zoom competition for IPS, IAS aspirants, Traditional games, Bible Model, Konkani Cultural songs and Konkani traditional dances were organized.
The stage programme was presided over by Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi diocese. Rev Fr. Anil Jacob D’Souza, Karnataka State YCS Director, Rev Fr. Roshan Santhumayar Belgaum Diocese YCS Director, Rev Fr. Michael Santhumayar Principal of Milagres College, Mangaluru, Rev Fr. Edwin D’Souza Director of Youth Commission, Udupi diocese and Director of YCS, Rev Fr. Roy Lobo Assist Parish Priest of Belman Church, Sr Usha Stella local convent Superior, Alwyn Agera Vice President and Paustine D’Souza Secretary of Belman Church Parish Pastoral Council, Lydia Aranha, Melwyn Castelino, Movin Rodrigues and others present on the dais.
Rev Fr. Michael Santhumayar delivered speech on higher studies courses like Hotel Management and others and gave brief on career oriental courses scope for the students.
The Conveners of YCS units of various parishes were felicitated by Rev Fr. Anil Jacob D’Souza. In his address Fr Anil Jacob D’Souza appreciated the youths of the diocese for their marvelous activities in diocese which is first in the Karnataka State Dioceses. The youths should have commitment qualities, it committed competence and young must have compassionate. Hence, they can succeed in their life.
The participants of YCS in national level camp were felicitated during the occasion by Rev Fr. Roshan Santhumayar. In his address Fr Roshan said that YCS has many advantages like it gives sense of belongingness, gives a chance to be oneself, creates an atmosphere where one feels accepted and drespected, gives an opportunity to discover ones talents and weakness and gives an opportunity to search together and deepen their insights.
In his presiding address Bishop pointed out about the selection of job oriented courses like IPS, IAS, Top governmental jobs like in railways, defence and others, Teachers and lecturers etc.. He said first of all we should have certain aim in life to succeed. Secondly the aim in life should have power to succeed. God has given power to succeed and should we use in our life. Thirdly there should be hard work to succeed in our life. Without hard work in our studies, we never expect the better in our life.
Bishop said that out of 14 dioceses of Karnataka, Udupi Diocese youths are first in overall achievements. 357 SSLC students got distinction and we have well talented youths. We have target from 2015 to 2025, at least we need 25 jobs in IAS or IPS positions. Already since two years we can able to get two posts, he said.
Prizes were distributed to various YCS Zoom 2017 competitions. Meyril D’Cruz of Belman Church and Elton Simon Alva of Udupi Church unit were won the YCS Quiz Zoom prizes.
In Bible Model first prizes goes to Roshan and Rayan of Byndoor Parish and second Nisha Rebiero and Augustine Mendonca of Tallur Church.
In Konkan Songs, Shirva parish unit won the first place and Miyar church unit won the second place while in Dance Shirva unit won the first place and Udupi unit won the second place.
Traditional games, Byndoor unit won the first place and Pangla, Shankerpura won the second place.
35 YCS units of the diocese were participated in YCS Zoom 2017 and larger YCS students participated actively in various competitions and the programme.
Rev Fr. Edwin D’Souza Director of YCS, Udupi diocese delivered vote of thanks. YCS youths conducted the programmes successfully. The YCS Zoom 2017 concluded with YCS hymn.
