Print Udupi : Twenty active Altar servers of Milagres Cathedral, near here celebrated their patron, St John Berchmans’ feast on nov 5th through the thanksgiving Eucharist @ 9. 30 am.
Fr Aloysius Lewis from Varanasi diocese was the main celebrant. In his sermon he stressed the three valuable things that were dear to St John Berchmans namely - cross, rosary n Rule book and instructed altar boys to imitate their patron. He said that Bible is the rule book for our life.
Earlier, the Altar servers prepared themselves for the great feast through confessions on Saturday. The whole liturgy was well planned by them.
This is first time that the Altar Servers had a feast celebration. During the mass four new members obtained their dress n made their commitment.
Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, animator of Altar boys Sodality thanked the parents for their support and encouragement.
Immediately after mass there was a short programme was held in Tri Centenary hall for which parents of altar servers were also invited. During the programme Fr Stany B Lobo, parish priest distributed the prizes for those who secured 100% Attendance and those who had won Bible quiz and other group competitions.
Five members Triston Noronha, Shanold Furtado, Vinol Lewis, Milton D Souza and Miral Fernandes received the BEST ALTAR BOY award for the year 2017-18.
President Miral Fernandes, vice president Milton D Souza, secretary Glen D Souza planned the day. Shenroy was the MC for the programme.
