Udupi : In order to the betterment of fishermen all projects and programmes designed by Pramod Madhwaraj will given for approval, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiha.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Udupi District Fisher Women’s huge convention organized by the Mogaveera Yuva Sangatane here on Sunday, 19^th November, Siddaramaiah said that there are more than one lac fisher women in the state. I will sanction Rs. 11.72 crore on interest of loans provided by nationalized banks to women fisherwomen.

He said a sum of Rs. 32 crore has been released for the development of Ambigara Chowdaiah who was a fisherman. Rs. 100 crore devoted for the Ambigara Chowdaiah Development Authority. In response for the monthly pension of Rs. 2,000 for 60 years crossed fisher woman, he said regarding this demand I will look on it and said if my government provide such pension we have large communities like Mogaveera and should give them also the same.

Siddaramiaha said that in regard to demand for ST category for Mogaveera community, we had sent proposal of demand twice to the centre that Mogaveera community for the inclusion of ST category. The BJP leaders should show interest to convince the Centre, he said.

He said that we have launched several programmes for the empowerment of all communities. I also belong to backward community. Its does mean that  being a AHINDA leader I should support for the backward communities only. Our government providing all benefits for other communities as well.

G. Shanker should be appreciated for his initiative for the welfare of people. We have the friendship since twenty years. Even though I am in power or not Shankar always visits me.

Earlier Nodoja Dr. G. Shankar submitted a memorandum with various demands of Mogaveera Fishing Community to the chief minister.

Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries said that under the leadership of chief minister Siddaramaiha lot of benefits given to the Fishermen. The Mogaveera community’s contribution for the development of twin districts D.K. and Udupi great. The state Congress government gave me opportunity in state cabinet. Rs. 5 crore projects underway in Malpe Beach. Lots of projects are also taking place in Byndoor. Hejamady Sea Fort also developing.

We increased diesel subsidy in the state budget from 105 crore to Rs. 257 crote. The compensation for the deceased family has been increased from Rs. 1 lac to Rs. 5 lac. It has been also increased to Rs. 6 lac. The Siddaramiaha government has provided lot of developmental works in the field of fisheries.

The chief minister laid the foundation stone for the 100 bed maternity government taluk hospital building constructed by the G Shankar Family Trust in memory of late Laxmi Soma Bangera.

The chief minister symbolically released Sureksha Health Cards during the occasion. Around 15,000 fisherwomen were participated during the convention.
