Udupi : Indira Gandhi will continue to remain the best known political leader India has produced said U. T. Khadar, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies.

He was addressing during the Valedictory Centenary Birth Celebrations of Indira Gandhi, organized by Udupi district Mahila Congress at Town Hall, here on Saturday, 25^th November, 2017, Khadar said that she was one of the powerful leader and still is India’s best known politician. And Narendra Modi is a still a long way away before history can judging him in front of Indira Gandhi. The charismatic and epoch-making personality of Indira Gandhi left her imprint not only in the affairs of her own country but also in international affairs. She belonged to that noble galaxy of great leaders who wielded extraordinary power.

U. T. Khadar appreciated the initiatives of Siddaramaiha in relate to several benefits for the poor and downtrodden people of Karnataka. The BPL cards will be delivered by post to the applicant. It is every person’s responsibility to spread the good works done by the state government at present especially and it is the responsibility of congress workers to exercise a profound influence on the voters with the achievements of the state government. He hopes five out of five seats in Udupi districts will going to win the forthcoming legislative elections.

Addressing on the occasion, Pramod Madhwaraj Minister of state for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment recalled the contribution of the country’s first Woman Prime Minister to the economic development in the form of 20 point programme, nationalization of banks and insurance firms and implementation of land reforms. During her rule it was the era there was thrust on agricultural growth which heralded the Green Revolution. She garnered widespread public support for agricultural improvements that led to India’s self-sufficiency in food grain production.

He said her prime ministerial terms marked many significant in India’s international position, militarily, politically and economically. She was in favour of poor and hence she introduced Garibi Hatavo movement. Due to intelligence, she knew that she will going to assassinate. In an early well times speech, Indiraji said on the night before she was assassinated that I don’t mind if my life goes in the service of the nation. If I die today, every drop of my blood will invigorate the nation.

Earlier, Senior Congress leader and President of UUDA, Narashimhamurthy garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Ajjarkad Park near here. All district blocks Mahila Congress members burned the light from Ajjarkad Park to Town Hall.

Veronica Cornelio welcomed the gatherings and gave keynote address. Smt Jayashree Bhat was felicitated by the guests on the dais. Geetha Wagle taken over President of District Mahila Congress from Veronica Cornelio after most succeeded 12 years as President.
