40th Vadiraja Kanakadasa Music festival and symposium at Udupi

Print Udupi : In memory of the contribution of two saint poets of the Bhakti age, Vadiraja and Kanakadasa, a music festival and symposium are being organized in Udupi on Dec. 15th & 16th, 2017 (Friday and Saturday).
‘Vadiraja Kanakadasa Sangeetotsava’, as it is called, is being held for the 40th time in succession. The symposium titled ‘Vadiraja Kanakadasa Prapancha’ is a special event this time. This will take place at Ravindra Mantapa, MGM College premises, Udupi. This is being organized by Vadiraja Kanakadasa Sangeetotsava Samithi, Kanakadasa Adhyayana Samshodhana Peetha, Udupi, MAHE, MGM College, Udupi and SaRiGaMa Bharathi Sangeetha Vidyala ® Parkala.
The programme will be inaugurated at 9.30am on Dec. 15th by Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, MAHE, A. Ishwarayya, Senior journalist is the Chief Guest, Dr. H. Shanthram, Administrative Officer, Academy of General Education, Manipal will preside over the function.
The speakers include K.P. Rao ( Around the time of Vadiraja-Kanakadasa), Prof. Udyavara Madhavacharya (Philosophy of Vadiraja Literature), Dr. Padekallu Vishnu Bhat (Philosopy of Kanakadasa Literature); Prof. Vee. Aravinda Hebbar (Vadiraja & Kanakadasa in Karntaka Music), Sri T. Ranga Pai (Vadiraja & Kanakadasa in Hindustani Music). A Ishwarayya will preside over function.
