Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar ushered in the spirit of Christmas organizing the Children’s  Christmas party  on Thursday, December 21st , 2017 at 9 Pearls Compound Clubhouse, sponsored by Mr. Alfred Sequeira.  As the hall got ready with Christmas tree, Crib and decorations, children eagerly waiting  for this celebration arrived dressed in Christmas colours  in full spirit  to enjoy the evening to the maximum and the festive mood was all felt.  One could sense the joy on children’s face as they were celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ with their own friends.   Eighty children of the club, in the age groups of 0 to sixteen years, attended the party and shared in the joy, celebration and gifts from Santa Claus.

The program was emceed by young and enthusiastic  Priya Noronha. The evening began with a prayer by Anna Pinto. General Secretary Riana Pinto then welcomed the children on behalf of MCC executive committee.

For the first time MCC held fancy dress competition with theme “CHRISTMAS”. There were six entries for below 6 years and two entries for  6 years and above category. In below six years, first prize was won by  Nathania D’Souza, second prize went to  James Ethan Rego and the third prize was won by Claressa D’Souza.  Above 7 years category Anria D’Souza won the prize.  Other participants were Ruenen Fernandes, Adrain D’Souza and Daryl Moras in below 6 years while Aliya Almeida in above 6 years group.

A wonderful message was given by our children, trained by Reena Castelino & Sujatha Fernandes, on every alphabet of the word “CHRISTMAS”.  This was delivered by Joswin & Joshua Pinto, Suzanne & Ronson Fernandes, Anika Quadros, Dylan Serrao, Jade  Mathias, Nigel Lobo and Kevin Monteiro.
This was followed by the grand entry of SantaClaus who danced his way to the stage with the ever popular carol ’Jingle bells’ and gave away chocolates to all children. Children also enjoyed a photo-shoot with Santa. A huge cake sponsored by Mr. William Aranha was cut by Santa and the MCC President along with the children.
The party continued with harmonious rendering of carols by little children trained by Wilma Pinto while Joshua Pinto played the music on keyboard for them and ushered in the spirit of Christmas.

Some interesting  games such as passing the Santa’s cap for young kids, while other kids were divided in  4 groups and played pyramid game, making a long chain, naming the Kuswar, decorate the Christmas tree.  The winning group was Purple group.  Spot games were also conducted.  All games were conducted by Gishal Cordeiro and the children enjoyed their evening to the fullest in the group of their friends.  Music was provided by Naveen D’Souza.

MCC Executive committee thanks  all  volunteers team for their support who were instrumental in bringing in the Christmas cheer and putting a smile on the faces of the little children.
The party ended with a prize distribution by Advisor Alfred Sequeira for all the participants of the fancy dress competition and the winners of the same and games.  Christmas souvenir was distributed to all the children along with snacks.
