Udupi : Private buses are parked on the roads at Santhekatte, Kallinapur junction leading to traffic jam and public disturbances said one caller from Kallianpur during Phone-in programme for the first time after assuming office as a Superintendent Police of Udupi District by Laxman B. Nimbargi on Wednesday, 10^th January, 2018.

Laxman B Nimbargi said to the caller that immediate action will be initiated to the Bus drivers while parking long time on National Highway 66 at Santhekatte, Kallinapur. Total seventeen calls received by the Superintendent of Police in one hour in relate to several issues. For the first time in Udupi district former SP Dr. Sanjeev Patil had introduced the direct phone-in programme with the general public in order to solve various problems directly. As soon as assuming office by the new SP Laxman B Nimbargi promised to continue the phone – in programme which was succeeded.

A caller from Shirva said that just near to the Shirva Police station due to due to stonemine explosion, the house severely damaged. SP said proper inquiry with concerned department and solves the problem.

One caller gave information regarding the sale of gutka and other drugs near the school in Udupi Town police station limit and need action and SP Laxman said that effective action will be taken against the selling of illegal drugs and gutka in the district.

A caller from Manipal said that two wheelers without helmet riding and crossing the divider on the main road near the KMC hospital. He said all over in Manipal larger number of people riding without helmet and not following the traffic rules. During Annamalai time in Udupi district there was strict measurers in regard to with helmet riding two wheelers. Same initiative will be needed in Udupi district. SP said that he just assumed the office and since then there were hard engagements like chief minister’s visit and so on taken place, I will take strict initiatives’ to the defaulters of traffic rules in the district. A caller said that even in two wheelers riding with three people without helmets and irresponsible riding the two wheelers which difficult to pedestrians.

Another caller said that the bus operators as well as some lorry drivers used shrill horns which leading to noise pollution and hearing problems and requested for immediate action. SP said that the effective action will be taken.

One caller said that due to dangerous turn of the road, lot of accidents taken place and need solution. SP said that he will find out with PWD and other departments concerned officials. The police department nothing can do for the same and only can give the guidance to the concerned departments.

A caller from Kundapur said that her brother expired on 6^th November, 2017 and the police registered a case. We strongly believe that the said death a case of unnatural death and we have strongly doubts about her brother’s death. She requested the SP to provide the post-mortem report which will provide the exact truth of the case. SP said he will look in to the matter and later he will let her information on the case.

A caller near from Karkala complained about the vehicles parking in front of their shops which will disturb to the business. SP said all the shop owners can find out the solution for that issue.

Meanwhile one caller from Karkala said that near the school illegal parking, SP said he will look into the subject.

One caller said that in front of Indrali school even though there is Zeebra cross, some of the vehicles running with very high speed and hence accidents taking place over there. One women caller said that she facing with sexual harassment in the working place which needs the help from the police to solve the problem. One caller from Koteshwar complains regarding the charging over interest rates on loans.

One caller said that around KSRTC bus stand in Udupi, illegal activities like prostitution and other cases. SP told him to take actions immediately.

From next week instead of Saturdays, all Fridays from 10 am to 11 am the phone-in programme with the general public will be held.
