The Christian Missionaries contributed various services for the growth of the country - Ramalinga Reddy, Home Minister

Udupi : The contribution of the Christian Missionaries to the society in India extraordinary one by their dedicated service and peace, said Ramalinga Reddy, Home Minister of Karnataka state.
He was addressing on the occasion of the inauguration and Consecration of the renovated St Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Cathedral, Brahmavar on Friday, 12th January, 2018, Ramalinga Reddy said that everyone have right to live peacefully. Christians are one of the third largest communities in the country. The Christian Missionaries started the schools and educational institutions in order to give the service and peace among the all the people. The Christians established schools with standard education with their disciplined life and selfless services in the development of the country, he said.
The Christians contributed services in the field of health also. It is the matter of pride for the country that Mother Theresa of Kolakata, even though she was not Indian origin by birth, her services for the poor and hence she earned the crown of Sainthood. Christians are peace minded and disciplined and are role model to the society in the country. It would be need to live with harmony and peace with all communities in the country, he said.
H.H. Baselios Marthoma Paulose 11, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthosox Syrian Church presided over the programme. During in his inaugural address, he said that the temple of God is the place to offering for the God. It is not only the Holy place but also it is the place to speak with God. It is also the place of the sharing our words with God almighty. The church is the place to give light to its followers as well. Jesus said the Church is the place who receives love and service with sharing the love of God with the people.
He said that the Cathedral of Brahmavar is Holy place. Large number of pilgrims visits this Holy place. He thanked the Vicar General of Brahmavar Diocese for his outstanding work to built beautiful Church.
Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment and also district in-charge Minister said this community never indulged any criminal activities. They are the peaceful who no cases of jail goers. The educational institutions of SMS would be great in urban area like Brahmavar and able to growth of many people. The Siddaramaiah government has been contributing Rs. 175 crores for the development of Christian Community in the state. Rs. 50 lacs granted to this church for the renovation purpose.
The Vicar General Rev C. A. Isaac, Anil Rodrigues, Trustee, Alan Rohan Vaz, Convener of the Church Building Committee, Ivan Suares, Construction Committee Secretary and Wilson Lewis Secretary were felicitated during the occasion.
Sri Haji K Ismail Navoonda, Musliyar Mohamdiya Jumma Masjid, Akalbail, Kirimanjeshwara spoke during the occasion and called the society to live in peace and harmony with one another. God is the father of all of us and we are all children of God. We must live with harmony and love.

Yakob Mar Elias, Metropolitan, Diocese of Brahmavar, Ivan D’Souza MLC and Chief Whip in the State Legislative Council, Govt. of Karnataka, Navin Nayak President of Varambally Panchayat, Brahmavar, Rev Fr. Dr. M. O. John Priest Trustee Malankara Orthodox Syrian Association, Sri George Paul, Lay Trustee Malankara Orthodox Syrian Association, priests Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Fr. David Crasta, Fr. Noel Lewis, Fr Joseph Chacko, Fr. Abraham Kuriakose and other among were present on the dais.
The programme began with prayer hymn by the church choir team members. Rev C. A. Isaac, Vicar General of the church welcomed the gathering. Trustee Anil Rodrigues delivered the vote of thanks. Anil Lobo and Aroor Thimmappa Shetty compered the programme. Lunch was served to near about 5000 people on the occasion.
