Udupi - born World Famous English Novelist felicitated at Milagres, Kallianpur

Udupi : Renita D’ Silva, well known and world famous author of best selling English novels like ‘Monsoon Memories,’ ‘The Forgotten Daughter’ presently residing in UK was invited and felicitated by her Alma Mater, Milagres English Medium School, Kallianpur on Jan 31st 2018 during the special school assembly.
She was welcomed by the school band in a procession by the management. Daily assembly prayer was followed by a colourful welcome dance by primary school students.
During the assembly, on behalf of the management, Very Rev Fr Stany B Lobo, Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions honoured her with the traditional Mysore Peta, shawl, bouquet of flowers and a memento. Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, Headmaster, Mrs Veera D Silva, Headmistress were present. Several teachers who taught her in her school days were also present during the felicitation.
Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, the headmaster in his speech said that the Alumni are the backbone of every institution. Honouring great achievers of the school is the duty as well as honour for us. We are privileged to have one of our students taking the fame of the school overseas to the world.
Mrs Renita in her speech said that, during her school days she was an ordinary student except that she enjoyed reading novels and writing creative articles and experiences. Her imagination was her strength. Ms Drashya compered the programme. After the assembly she had a short interaction with the high school students.
She was born in Bantwal, Mangaluru and later her family relocated to Kallianpur when she was three months old. She is the eldest of the three children of Mr Cyril D Silva and Mrs Hilda D Silva. Mrs Hilda is a retired professor who taught for several years in Milagres College, Kallianpur. She studied in Milagres and was the first batch of high school to pass out in 1992.
She completed her schooling in Milagres and later did her engineering at NTK Suratkal. After her marriage she settled in London, UK. The specialities of her novels consist in, being women centric with Indian ethos and settings. Presently she is settled in United Kingdom with her husband and two kids.
She has authored five novels so far. Out of the five, her best hit novels ‘Monsoon Memories’ (first one) was released in 2013, and ‘The Forgotten Daughter’ in 2014. ‘The Stolen Girl’ in 2014 and ‘A Sister’s Promise’ in 2015. Her latest novel that is soon to be released is ‘A Mother’s Secret’.
