Udupi :  : The annual student-organized media event of School of Communication (SOC), Article-19 has been scheduled this year for the weekend of 8th,9th and 10th February. The event will include talks given by several notable speakers, as well as competitive and cultural events.

Addressing to media persons at Udupi Press Club during the press meet on 6^th February, Dr. Padma Rani Director of SOS, said that article-19 will be inaugurated by experienced media personality and trainer Vasanthi Hariprakash. The inauguration, starting at 9 AM on the 8th of February will be attended by the Director of SOC, Dr. Padma Rani. Miss Vasanthi will give the first talk of the event, titled “Is your degree enough to conquer the world of media and communication”. Seminars will also be conducted by distinguished media personnel including notable journalist Rajeev Bhattacharyya, who will be speaking on the current media functioning in the North East. Other speakers include author, public speaker and social entrepreneur Srijan Pal Singh, speaking on the nation of Dr. Kalam’s dream- The Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the Executive Editor of The Caravan and award-winning journalist Vinod K. Jose, esteemed alumnus of School Of Communication, Manipal.

The three day event will also comprise of several offline and online competitions in the fields of film, fine arts, and performing arts among others, giving the incoming delegates from media schools across the country an array of unique activities to participate in. The evenings will see cultural competitions in Alt+Enter, an alternative entertainment program, and prizes for all events will be given at Express Awards, a formal awards ceremony.

 The quadrangle of the college which has been decorated in accordance with this year’s theme will be inaugurated on 9th February by Vinod K. Jose. The three day event will end in a valedictory ceremony on the February 10th. The event will be lead by Srijan Pal Singh, who is continuing the works of Dr. Kalam. That evening will take a more casual turn at Funfair. This year the theme is Time Travel.

School of Communication, one of the top 5 media institutes, has completed 20 years. Article-19 is India’s oldest communication and media event which has featured notable speakers such as Rajdeep Sardesai, Kalpana Sharma, P.Sainath and Prahalad Kakkar.
