Rs. 5 lakh security Bond case against the Matka accused - Laxman Nimbargi, district SP

Udupi : In order to over whole control of illegal Matka business in the district, the police decided to register security cases against those involved in Makta in the district and register Rs. 5 lakh security bond case against them before Taluk Magistrate and Tahsildar, said Laxman Nimbargi, District Superintendent of Police.
Speaking with the media persons during in his phone-in programme on Friday, 9th February, SP said that since three years those who were involved in Matka related illegal business will be produced before district magistrate at various taluk offices. The preparing lists of accused in the Matka cases held since three days and process is going on. In relate to Matka business, main accused will be explusion from the district after the DC order.
SP Laxman Nimbargi said during the month of January 82 matka cases, 21 NDPS, 131 gambling, 254 Cotpa and around 6200 vehicle rules violation related cases like 19 drink and drive, 260 shrill horns, 99 speaking in mobile phone while driving, 2471 without helmet, 254 over speed, 3022 driving without license and other cases have been booked.
One caller from Karkala said that there is shortage of sand for the construction works and caller from Shankernarayan said about the illegal sand mining near the police station.
Another caller from Brahmavar said that the private buses bound to Brahmavar and Hebri have the shortage of signal lights and using shrill horns. Meanwhile private buses are giving trouble to government buses and illegal matka business.
A caller from Uppunda near Byndoor said that unauthorized people were parking cars in front of the Junior College at Uppunda and teasing college girl students causing inconvenience to the students. A caller from Gangully said that the fish transporting vehicles are spilt waste water on the roads causing two wheelers specially and others also.
Speaking to media persons, SP said that the naxal activities are not operating in the district presently. But district police along with Anti Naxal Force team have been instructed to maintain vigil in view of the Naxal activities in other districts. There will be interaction with public programme in remote areas of the district.
During the phone-in programme, SP received 22 calls from the public. The calls relate to Matka, shrill horns, barricades on roads, seat reservation for handicapped in buses, alcohol drinkers’, illegal vehicles parking on the road, buntings and banners, buses running during the wedding occasions, illegal activities at Mannapalla, Manipal etc.
Other police officials were present during the programme.
