Kemmannu, 13 February 2018: A long standing dream of Thimman Kudru residents is shortly going to be a reality as Minister Mr. Pramod Madhwaraj performed ‘Guddali Puje’ for the construction of new Concrete bridge connecting Padu Kudru to Thimman Kudru. The work of the 5 crore project is expected to start immediately and should be completed within 6 month.
It was a long standing demand of Thimman Kudru residents who earlier used to cross the Swarna River in small boats and for the last 25 years were using the famous Hanging Bridge which was not suited to vehicular traffic. The once vibrating Islet was deserted by many residents due to lack of proper connectivity. This new bridge is expected to boost the fortune of the once popular islet. Unfortunately due to problems of land acquisition the new bridge could not be built near the Hanging Bridge but will be constructed about 300 meters West of Hanging Bridge.
On the same occasion the minister distributed Karnataka Government sponsored sports kit “Yuva Chaitanyya” to about 8 local sports clubs. The kit has a variety of sports equipment worth Rs. 40,000/-. The Government from request from the Sports minister has approved a budget of 12 crores for the project.
Several local leaders were present on the occasion. The Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakhs to Babbu Swamy temple construction Samiti during the occasion.
