Udupi : Investiture ceremony of Student’s Welfare Council for 2018-19 of Milagres College, Kallianpur near here held at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall on Tuesday, 24th July, 2018.

Investiture Officer Prof. Rajan V. N. Principal of St Mary’s College, Shirva was the chief guest. Addressing the students Prof. Rajan said that students are the ambassadors’ of the college. The students welfare council would be the link for a leadership opportunity for students who are dedicated to serving and representing for the college and also will develop a wide range of transferable skills that will benefit for students.

Prof Rajan stressed to maintain a strong relationship among the students on the one hand and among the student and the faculty, staff and administrative members on the other hand. Hence, it will boost the students’ individuality, autonomy and self dependence through giving them the freedom to choose, maintain and organize their activities of interest. He said good teacher creates good students. With the help of good teacher students can take advantage to make habit of learning which could be most valuable. So do well and be good for the college, he said.

Investiture ceremony began with invocation by the students of the college. Very Rev Dr. Lawrence D’Souza Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions as well as Secretary of Catholic Educational Society of Udupi diocese was presided over the programme.

Dr. Herald Monis, one of the directors of Students’ Welfare Council welcomed the gatherings. Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of the college took pledge and oath from Prajwal U, Final BCom, the newly elected President of the Students Welfare Council of the college for the academic year 2018/19. Principal also took pledge and oath from Lukman Hakim as General Secretary, Sanith Shetty and Kavya Pai as vice presidents, Ajay G. Poojary and Melisha Prima Baretto as Joint Secretaries, Nagesh Shetty as Cultural Secretary.

 

President of SWC, Prajwal U was took pledge and oath from all the class representatives of the college. All the office bearers as well as class representatives took oath with lighting the candle which was the attraction. Prior to the oath taking ceremony all the office bearers were given their respective office badge each by the teachers.

Dr. Laxman Alumus of the college, Associate Professor and Co-ordinator at PG Department of Chemistry, University College, Mangaluru was the guest of honor. He released the college magazine ‘Miracles’ during the occasion. He recaptures about his life in the Milagres College and stressed the students to look forward for the better in the life.

The Alumnus Sushmita was felicitated by the all guests and personalities on the dais for her achievements to obtain seat in NII at Calicut. Later she spoke during the occasion.

Very Rev Dr. Lawrence D’Souza gave his president address with gratitude to all concerned. Lukman Hakim proposed vote of thanks. Prof Annamma and officials of the SWC were present on the dais. The programme winded up with National Anthem.
