Udupi : The death case of Sujatha and her daughter Krithika, residents of Gerukatte, Mulky who are believed to have committed suicide has suspicious one.
Speaking to media persons during the press meet at Udupi Press Club on Wednesday, Lokesh Anchan, Chief Convener of Dalitha Sangarsha Samithi, Padubidri said that the incident took place on the morning of Tuesday, 2nd August and it is said that Sujatha first pushed her daughter Krithika into the well and later Sujatha jumped into the well to end her life. But, he said that it has suspicious that both mother and little daughter didn’t make the suicide but it would be the murder.
Likesh said that 14 years ago Sujatha’s marriage held with Sudhakar, a resident of Gerukatte, Mulki. There was no problem in marital life at the earlier years of their life. She gave birth to Krithika after eight year of marriage. After that her sister in-laws started to harass Sujatha every day and night. Later the family dispute was settled by negotiation between the two families.
On morning of Thursday, 2nd August, Prashant, a brother of deceased Sujatha said that he received a call from Sudhakar’s house that Sujatha is ill. So Prashant and others rushed to Sudhakar’s home immediately. When they reached from Subashnagar near Katapady to Mulki, they understood that Sujatha had died and her body is taken to the hospital. In the video footage of the police, both the bodies are floating in the well. But Sudhakar says that he has fed the child at around 8.30 am and left the home at around 9.30 am.
But Lokesh and other present on the press meet said that if Sujatha has really committed a suicide, how it was her body will float on the surface of water in the well within half an hour, they asks. They also said that they have found white foam on the mouth of child Krithika. They have suspicion that if it was really a case of suicide, how the foam was formed around the mouth of a child, they asks.
Sujatha’s husband Sudhakar’s family not interested to inform the incident to Sujatha’s family after death. There was no death note or anything found in Sujatha’s bag. On 3rd August, Sudhakar found a letter in the shelf. But it is clearly shows that the handwriting was not similar to Sujatha’s hand writing and signature also not match with that of Sujatha, they said.
Hence, the family of Sujatha claims that the Sujatha’s death is not a case of suicide but it was pre-planned murder by Sudharkar’s family members. Lokesh and family of Sujatha seek justice in the case and urged the police to reveal the truth by conducting a fair investigation. Police must interrogate and investigate her husband and her sister in-laws Chandrika, Jayalakshmi and Sugandhi and give Sujatha’s family justice in the case.
The family members of Sujatha, Suresh Yermal, Pradeepraj, Asha, Gunakar K S and others were present during the press meet.
