Pangla church celebrates feast of St Theresa of Kolkatta
St John the Evangelist church Pangla celebrated the feast of St Theresa of Kolkatta on 5th September. Meaningful Liturgy was observed during the Eucharistic Celebration. In his address the parish Priest Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves shed light on the life St Theresa. “The whole world found maternal figure in St Theresa and lovingly called her Mother or Mother Theresa.
Filled with ardent love for the Lord Jesus Christ, she served the poor, the marginalized, the lepers and the downtrodden. In a world filled with bitterness, atrocities and the innumerable disasters and terribly wounded, we are called upon to serve the world, after the example of St Theresa.” He also expressed his sadness over recent happenings where the great fame of Mother Theresa and her congregation has been tarnished with false accusations.
Special prayers were offered for the intentions of Missionaries of Charity congregation started by Mother Therersa, so that they are able to come out of the problems that they are facing. Fr Royson Fernandes, the Assistant Parish Priest, Fr Vincent Coelho, Principal of St John’s PU college, Mrs Clara Mendonca, secretary of PPC, Mrs Simmi DSouza, 18 Commission Coordinator, and the parishioners were present on the occasion.
