Udupi : Without any difficulties sand will be made available to all people in the district, said H. D. Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister of Karnataka.

During the review meeting held at ZP meeting Hall, here on Friday, 7^th September, the action will be taken against illegal sand mining. Meeting to be conducted to sort out the problems of sand mining with MLAs and top level officials of the state and problems would be sorted out. Those who need the sand for constructing houses, sand should be made available. Hence, district administration as per the as per law, should give scope to sand mining. Whichever reasons, district administration not to give chance to mechanical sand mining, he said.

Due to natural calamities, around Rs. 141 crores losses incurred in the district as per the primary report. Already Rs. 18 crores released for the district in relate to loss due to heavy rain. Roads and bridges have been damaged very badly. 10 people lost the lives. 1232 houses have been damaged. More funds to be released at the earliest, he said.

He said that those who submitted application for the ration card, at the earliest should send the ration card for the applicants. Within one month, if there is shortage of staff, with appointing contract labours, the ratio cards should be send to the applicants, he said.

We are planning to launch a multi-village drinking water project at the cost of Rs. 70 crore which will be launched within four years. We are also planning to provide water to Udupi district from Varahi river. In relate to supply of drinking water to Udupi city, Udupi CMC and Public Works Department jointly undertake the measures. In regard to this, meeting to be convened in Bangaluru, he said.

Kumaraswamy said that there is demand for more women hostels in Udupi city. He directed to DC to find out proper place to construct women’s hostel in the city. Those who not get the seat in women’s hostel, district administration could establish temporarily seats in rented buildings, he said.

11000 Houses for Koraga community will be constructed in the district. The government with the help of agencies these houses will be constructed, chief minister said.

He said that state government has been merged with all the health insurances schemes and brought Health Card Project. But still there have been some problems to get benefits for the people. Hence, state government introduced that even if one show the BPL card can avail the benefits.

In relate to re-establishing of Brahmavar Sugar Factory, CM said that farmers around Brahmavar Sugar Factory areas stopped the produce of Sugarcanes. If the farmers re-start to produce the sufficient sugarcane, government ready to re-establish the sugar factory in Brahmavar.

Query to media persons regarding the house for the fishermen, he said government will be constructed to fishermen in coastal Karnataka. Due to heavy rain some have lost the fishing boats recently. He said compensation will be provided to those who lost the fishing boats. In relate to Kasturirangan report, he said that a report has been sought from a committee of Scientists regarding damage to Western Ghats.

He is very much religious person that he visited Sri Krishna Math and prayed for the welfare of the people of the state. Visiting temples and religious places not new to him, he said.

Query to media persons on the mysterious death of Shiroor Swamiji, Chief Minister said that Shiroor death case is still under investigation. District police has been investigating the case with utmost satisfaction. Due to Supreme Court orders, in relate to the case cannot be made public. The truth will be come out like in the murders of Gauri Lankesh and Kalburgi, We should wait patiently up to full investigation, he said.
