Udupi : Under the guidance of Udupi deanery *Family day* of the year 2018 was organised by the Moodubelle unit of ICYM, at St Lawerence PU College Hall, Moodubelle on Sunday, 9th September. 

Around 170 youth from nine parishes of the Udupi deanery participated in this event.

The program was started with a prayer song.The ICYM Udupi Deanery ‘Family Day’ was inaugurated by Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, and Vicar forane of Udupi deanery, by unfurling a bunch of  coconut flowers . He was accompanied by Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest of Moodubelle and Director of ICYM Udupi Deanery, Dr. Judith Lobo-resource person of the day, Vincent Fernandes-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Latha D’Mello - Secreaty,  Valerian Noronha and Mrs. Anita Alva-Animators of ICYM Moodubelle, Vilton D’Souza-President of ICYM Udupi Deanery, Fiona D’Souza-Secretary of ICYM Udupi Deanery, Sara D’Souza-Secretary of ICYM Udupi Diocese and Joswin D’Mello-President of ICYM Moodubelle Unit.

Mr.Vilton Dsouza welcomed the gathering.

Ms.Edna Menezes introduced the resource person Dr. Judith Lobo.

In her address, Dr. Judith Lobo stressed on the importance of family and prayer. She pointed out the need of family in the upbringing of children and the youth. She also impressed upon the youth the need  of family support and guidance in shaping their personality and future.

Fr. Valerian Mendonca in his message expressed happiness that the ICYM of Udupi Deanery thought of organizing  the family day in the wake of Monti  Festh. He highlighted the importance of Catholic Educational Institutions in inculcating Christian values.

Ms.Fiona D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and  Ms.Carol Quadros compered the whole programme. 

Ms. Rosalia and Ms.Hazel Martis conducted the games.

Moodubelle unit  conducted quiz for the youths. The program came to an end and all the youths had lunch and enjoyed the day.

Fr. Alban D’Souza-Parish Priest of Kalmady, Fr. Anil D’Souza-Parish Priest of Perampalli, Fr. Wilson D’Souza-Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar, Fr. Ronson D’Souza-Parish Priest of Katapady, Fr. Rowlin Aranha-Asssitant Parish Priest of Udyavar and Fr. Lawrence Cutinha participated in the community meal.

Fr.Anil Dsouza parish priest of Perempalli appreciated the deanery  unit members for participating in the program.
