Udupi : Have excess food after a party or any program ? Just call one of the non government organization just inaugurated on Thursday, 11^th October at Udupi Lions Bhavan, Brahmagiri called Udupi helpline and make it reach the needy.

The youngsters of Udupi after experiencing distress with the people of Kodagu and Kerala, formed a WhatsApp group “Udupi Helpline’ in August. After good response, the youngsters of Udupi held the helpine with launching ceremony was held in a unique way by distributing food for 100 people by Jaykar Shetty Indrali, General Manager of Badagubettu Co-operative Society, Janardhan Thonse, District Congress President, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde District Bharatiya Janata Party president, Yogish V. Shetty District President of Janata Dal Secular and other personalities.

Amruth Shenoy, Hon’ble President of Udupi Helpline in his key note address said that we Indians love to eat as well as feed others. For this very reason, every time we have a function of a party, we ensure that there’s plenty of food around. After all the eating, drinking, and merriment, we often end up with a lot of leftover food. While some of it can be packed off to friends and relatives, most of it goes to waste. Often, after a big party at home is over, we wonder what to do with the food.

Then the good humanity initiative of the Udupi youths come forward to take excess food from parties, marriage ceremonies, restaurants, corporate offices or other parties and reaches the leftover food to underprivileged, he said.

Amruth Shenoy said   the collection is very difficult that the left over food available in odd time of the lunch or dinner. So after the collection, it is declared fir for consumption, food is stored in refrigerators. The food is distributed among the underprivileged at Shirva, Kundapur, Kaup and Uppoor etc.

For the good initiative, there is definitely will get public support. Even though it is very difficult to organize, he has confident that the youths of Udupi will be succeeded, he said.

Jaykar Shetty Indrali, Mattar Ranthnakar Hegde, Janardhan Thonse and Yogish V Shetty spoke during the occasion and appreciated all the good initiative of the youngsters of Udupi through Udupi Helpline.

Roshan D’Souza, T. S. Tanveer and K. S. Kalkura were felicitated for their various achievements for the society.

Abdul Hammed released the T-Shirts for the youngsters of the Udupi Helpline.
