Udupi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold state wide protest on November 9 against the state celebrations of Tipu Jayanti. In Udupi, the district BJP will hold a protest on November 9, at 4 pm near BJP district office, Kadiyali.
Speaking to media persons during the press conference held at District BJP office, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, President of BJP district unit, said that the celebrating Tipu Jayanti would against the Hindus. He had not given any contribution to Karnataka State. Chief Minister was neutral during the Tipu Jayanti over the past three years. But this year in order to save his position, he sticks Congress for the celebrations.
He said Tipu was a religious bigot who had massacred many people and forced them to embrace Islam. The government’s move of observing the Tipu Jayanti as an act of Muslim appeasement. There was large scale communal violence erupted during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations in 2015, when it was first organized by government. Large number of violence erupted in Coorg and coastal district since 2015 due to the celebration of complicated Tipu Jayanti. Tipu Sultan was a terrorist and persecuted Kodavas and Catholics in Mangaluru. Even in Mallar of Kaup, there were large number of Hindus and Christians who converted to Islam, he said.
He criticized the government’s initiatives of not giving notification to elect President and Vice President post’s in local bodies of municipalities and town councils’ for their selfishness and their benefits.
BJP leaders Kulaidy Suresh Nayak, Prabhakar Poojary, Yashpal Suvarna and Shivakumar Ambalpady were present during the press meet.
