Udupi : District BJP staged a protest against the Tipu Jayanti at in front of BJP office, Kadiyali here on Friday, November 9.

Addressing to protesters, Kota Srinivas Poojary MLC and Opposition leader of Legislative council said that there would be no similarities between the celebrating Hitler’s Jayanti and Siddaramiah’s jayanti. What is the need to celebrate the Tipu Jayanti who is responsible for huge conversion of Hindus and Christians to Islam. What is the need to celebrate Tipu Jayanti who was responsible atrocities on women and demolishing more than 8000 temples? The Coalition government has in order to appease the minorities celebrating Tipu Jayanti since several years now. The chief minister should not participate the state celebrations of Tipu Jayanti on the ground of honesty, he said.

Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the former chief minister Siddaramiah was initiated the celebrating Tipu Jayanti. The people of the state rejected the Congress party due to its appeasement of minorities. In the coalition government, Chief Minister Kumaraswamy would have also following the celebration of Tipu Jayanti this year. People will teach a lesson in next election to the coalition government. When BJP come to power, immediately the decision to celebrating Tipu Jayanti will be cancelled, he said.

Uday Kumar Shetty BJP Mangaluru division in-charge said that many people didn’t know about Tipu Sultan who massacred the Hindus and Christians at large. But after the celebrating the Tipu Jayanti people came to know about the Tipu’s and whatever remains about Tipu’s contribution will also vanished. No Muslim organizations listen to celebrating Tipu Sultan’s Jayanti. We don’t mind to celebrate the birthday anniversaries persons like Dr Abdul Kalam, Haji Abdulla of Udupi and we also participate to celebrate the same. The present coalition government of Congress and JD(S) not celebrate Tipu Jayanti next year, he said.

Earlier Mattar Rathnakar Hegde District BJP president spoke key note address. Zilla Panchayat Vice president Sheela K Shetty also spoke during the protest meet. Kulaidy Suresh Nayak compered the programme. Prabhkar Poojary proposed vote of thanks.
