Udupi : Raghupathy Bhat MLA of Udupi Legislative Council had called a progress review meeting with newly elected members of City Council and officials including the Municipal Commissioner here on Thursday, November at 10.30 am.

Without any officials of city municipality, local MLA Raghupathy Bhat arrived at Municipal meeting hall at 10.37 am. All the 35 CMC members and officials of the MESCOM, NHAI and KUDCEP were present at 10.40am.

After the three months of municipal election, this is the first time local MLA called for meeting to review the developmental works. But up to 12.30 pm, no officials were reported for the meeting.

Raghupathy Bhat alleged that the deputy commissioner of Udupi district had issued instructions on Wednesday November 21, that no meeting with the municipality councilors conducted as newly elected members of city municipal council not administered oath of office due to court order. Meanwhile, the instructions also conveyed by municipal commissioner and engineer of the city municipality to the same night.

Raghupathy Bhat said that district administration should give me in writing as local MLA that no discussions will be held by the local MLA with officials and elected members of municipality. There are several problems in Udupi city municipality limit that of drinking water, electricity and so on. I have right to discuss the problems faced by the people of municipality with the councilors and officials.

Raghupathy Bhat said that there is no law to barring a meeting with elected members of municipal council and officials of the municipality. The elected representatives are tremendous pressure from the public for not solving various issues. Municipal commissioner and DC should answer the people regarding the various problems faced by the people.

Raghupathy Bhat said that let DC shall come here and attend our grievances. We are not able to move from here unless our demands are met. But nearing two hours, some of the councilors as well as some officials dispersed from the hall after 12.30 pm.

Those officials attended the meeting like MESCOM, KUDCEP were attended the grievances from the councilors and promised to solve the various problem.
