Udupi : The Syndicate Bank Officers’ Association will organize the 15^th Biennial Conference at Durga International Hotel here on November 24.

Speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club during press meet on November 23, Manjunath S Bhagavat former President of SBOA, said that the whole bank employees are facing innumerable problems and particularly the working condition of the Officer community have become worse. Really today the entire officer community especially in Syndicate Bank is toiling and they are forced to work round the clock. No one is willing to take business decision in fear of going wrong and later getting punished, he said.

He said most of the branch heads are disillusioned because they are not being heard properly and their grievances are unattended by the higher echelon. It is high time that the HR policy of our Bank to be revamped in toto. Management has to walk on the path of good human relations and mitigate the genuine problems of the employees and also create congenial atmosphere at all levels.

The recognized union has miserably failed in framing a permanent and scientific promotion policy and there is no consistency in the transfer policy. Poor ladies are being transferred far off places even in mid of academic year, he said.

Further, the move of shifting of Head Office from Manipal to Bengaluru would not fetch business or improve the efficiency. It would be a futile and pointless exercise. It would be a financial burden to the bank as well nearly 500 employees. The bank is already in loss and hence we urge the management to reconsider and chalk out future course of action, he said.

He said that we are also of opinion that the RBI should desist from sending shock waves and embarrassment to Union government and among banking circle. We feel that there is no harm in using section 7. It is well known fact that RBI had not taken adequate precautions at the time of indiscriminate lending during 2008-14 and thereby RBI indirectly responsible for mounting up NPAs in Public sector banks, he said.

Meanwhile we also urge upon the government to have a probe on the role of officers’ director and workmen directors neither they acted as true representatives of the employees not they functions a watch dog when the banks were lending ruthlessly. It is very paradoxical that the same people now raising their voice about the NPAs, he said.

The conference will pass resolutions on host of other issues like wage revision, disbursement recalculation of gratuity to the retirees in the light of the recent awards passed by competent authorities, unnecessary harassment in the name of recovery and performance, regulation of working hours of Officers and provide adequate staff at grass root level, he said.

Nearly 200 delegates will participate from all over India. Shobha Karandlaje MP will inaugurate the conference. V. V. Tikkekar, All India General Secretary of National Organization of Bank Officers’ will deliver the key note address in delegate session on Nov. 25^th.
