All India Catholic Union Working Committee Meeting and Training at Jaipur

All India Catholic Union Working Committee Meeting and Training for Diocese  Lay leaders was held from 30-11-18  to 2-12-2018 at Pastoral Council centre Jaipur Diocese.   Bishop of Jaipur Bishop Oswald Lewis( Native of Kemmannu) inaugurated the training on 30-11-18. Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, the Secretary General of Catholic  Bishop’s Council of India was the resource person. He explained the current situation of India of polarization  and how minorities and Dalits are marginalized by using the people within the community. “ Before going to the TV debate it is necessary to collect all data and facts and the person must know the related laws, otherwise more damage will be done to the community”, said Bishop Thedore.

On first and second of December  there was the first working committee meeting of the period 2018-2020. National president Lancy D Cunha welcomed the gathering.  Secretary  general Chinnappan gave the report of last meeting.  All the office bearers were given job description and the was taken.  There was interaction with CBCI secretary Bishop Theodore regarding better co ordination between Laity and clergy.  During the meeting centenary programmes were discussed. Centenary of AICU will be held in August 2019 at Delhi.
Later there was peace meet in which all the major religion leaders- Muslims, Budhists, Jains, Hindus, Bhahai and Protestant pasters were present.

In the meeting State AICU president Mr Assis Goncalves of Karvar Diocese, Secretary Deepak D Souza  of Mangalore  and National co-ordiantor for Higher education Dr Gerald Pinto from Udupi were present. Jaipur Catholic Association was the host.
