Udupi : The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Ward, Kallianpur A Ward of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur held with devotion here on Sunday.

The thanksgiving mass for the Ward Patron Saint Anthony held at Milagres Cathedral at 8 am mass. The faithful of ward participated for the liturgy of the mass which was celebrated by Rev Fr. Herald Pereira Director of 18 commissions of the diocese.

In his homily Fr. Herald Pereira pointed out how we can effectively transmit the faith in face of increasing apathy, hostility and even downright rejection of all things Christian by a large section of society today.

In the evening get together of ward people held at ‘Angels’, Robert D’Souza’s house at 6.30 pm. The evening programme began with worshipping and touching on Holy Bible with affection by all participants. The evening prayers were led by  Rosy Baretto, Ward Gurkarn and Gracy D’Souza. Neena Lewis placed the report of the ward as well as report of self-help group for the year.

Rev Fr. Jossy Mascarenhas Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers Kallianpur spoke during the occasion and gave the ward festive message. Felciana Lewis Secretary of Milagres Parish Pastoral council spoke during the occasion and gave her message.

Arel Lewis was honoured on behalf of Kallianpur B ward for his outstanding performance in Bodokon Karate. Wilson Lewis conducted the games for the participants. Kids performed their dance with fun. Meanwhile jokes, dances and entertainment displayed on the occasion. Cash prizes were distributed for the winners of various games. Brothers’ of Pilar Fathers sang the songs with music. Rev Fr. John Bannet Superior of Pilar Fathers graced with prayers on the meal.

Earlier Rosy Baretto Ward Gurkarn welcomed the gatherings. Sharel D’Souza compered the programme. Owin Rodrigues representative of the ward proposed vote of thanks.

Xavier Fernandes, Coordinator of 18 commissions of the parish, Rose Convent nuns, former Vice President of parish pastoral council Leslie Lewis, Parish Gurkars’ of other wards and large number of ward people participated in the get together on the occasion of ward fest.
