Workshop on short stories, articles, report writing in Konkani held at Udupi

Udupi : Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Konkani Writers Association, Late Denis D’Silva Article Writing Competition Committee and Udupi district Konkani Sanghaton jointly organized workshop on Short Story, Article and Report writing at Don Bosco Hall, Our Lady of Sorrows church, here on Sunday, February 17, 2019.
The resource persons were well Known Konkani Writers, Editors and other like Dr Edward Nazareth, Dolphy Cassia and J. F. D’Souza Attawar, Mangaluru. CGS Taccode (Cyril G. Sequeira moderated the workshop.
Dr. Gerald Pinto (Jerry Niddodi) Coordinator of the workshop welcomed the gatherings. Prior to the start of workshop programme one minutes of silence for the martyred CRPF soldiers and Educationalist, social worker and Advocate Shirthady William Pinto.
Richard Moras, Konkani Writers’ Association President was inaugurated the workshop with lighting the lamp. Alwyn Quadros President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh presided over the programme.
In his inaugural address Richard Moras pointed out the main objectives of the aims and objectives of Konkani Writers Association of Karnataka. He said there should need to survive the Konkani language by writing of novels, articles, stories and other, so that our coming generation could alive the Konkani alive.
J. F. D’Souza Attavar, Jyothi Loreen D’Silva (J L Manjarapalke) and Lavi Ganjimatta, recipients of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy award winners were felicitated on the occasion.
Dr. Edward Nazareth placed important points while writing articles, short stories, novels, poems and plays, J F D’Souza who has written over 6,000 letters to editors for various newspapers and periodicals in Kannada and English pointed out the impact of writing the editorial letters while Dolphy Cassia artist, editor for various periodicals and script for various skits briefed how to write the short stories etc.
Alwyn Quadros in his presidential address said that it would be necessary to remain Konkani language. This kind of workshop on Konkani helps large numbers with youngsters and other. He appreciated the initiatives of the Konkani loving personalities for the conducting the workshops.
At the end of the workshop, there was interaction session conducted by CGS Taccode with the resource persons. On behalf of felicitated Lavi Ganjimatta and J L D’Silva narrated their experience and inspiration about the writing of articles and novels in Konkani language. Waltson D’Sa teacher from Shankerpura and Alphonsus D’Souza retired teacher from Brahmavar expressed their views during the occasion.
Well known writers Eddi Netto, Manu Bahrain, Fr. A. D’Lima, Ron Roche Cassia, Ms Catherine Rodrigues, Katapady and others were present. Around 100 people including editors of parish bulletins, officials of Catholic Sabha, students and others were present.
Alphonse D’Costa former President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh compered the programme and Louis D’Almeida President of Udupi district Konkani Sanghaton proposed vote of thanks. Fr. A. D’Lima graced prayers on the lunch.
