Udupi, Mar 15: In an incident that occurred this morning at Kallinapura Santhekatte school children traveling by an auto driven by John met an accident and 7 children got injured and rushed to KMC, Maniapl by Ambulance.
The collision was in-between the Auto and a Maruti Ritz plying from Santhekatte to Udupi and was trying to overtake the auto rickshaw. Students were studying in two English medium schools of Kallianpur and taken to Manipal hospital as per eye witnesses.
The front portion of the rickshaw was completely damaged and Auto driver John also injured. Locals helped the injured to rush to the hospital. Regular accidents take place in this spot due to the lack of proper pedestrian crossing as well as the round about or traffic signals at this junction.
District police visited the spot and started the investigation.
