Udupi : Various Christian Associations’ in the state condemn the anti-Christian statements by BJP senior leader K S Eshwarappa during the election speech at Bagalkot recently.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club Louis Lobo, Hon. President of International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations’ (IFKCA) of Udupi District unit said that during the election campaign meeting, K S Eswarappa spoke on Christian communities with irresponsible and objectionable statements against the Christian communities of the nation. Eswarappa such a senior leader of BJP said that Christians are not obedient and they are not ‘Deshbakths’. Meanwhile, Eswarappa said that Christians are not honest for the nation.

 This statement of Eswarappa has been against the constitution and communal values. We strongly condemn the irresponsible statements of Eswarappa against the Christian communities of the nation, Lobo said.

Louis Lobo said that even though around 2.5% Christian population in total population of the country, the contribution for the nation by the Christian communities has 10 times more in total population of the country. In education, social service, health services and other, the contribution of the Christians would be more. Great leaders of BJP like Lalkrishna Advani and others appreciated Christians at large for their contribution that these leaders got the education from Christian Institutions. Such great leaders of BJP never gave any anti-Christian statements.

We never expected such anti-Christian statement by the Eswarappa that BJP ruling with the quote ‘Sab ka Sath, Sab ka Vikas’. Christians without any difference with caste and religion, provided better education to all and made educational revolution in the country. Eswarappa among one to get such good education from Christian Institution, otherwise, he surely not develop in such top high in his political career, Lobo said.

Prashanth Jathanna, President of Bharatiya Christian Okkoota said that various Christian Associations admonished K S Eshwarappa for calling Christians as insincere, unpatriotic and not trust worthy. They demanded his unconditional apology. If he continuous his tirade against Christians, then suitable legal recourse shall be taken.
