Udupi : We have taken all the measures for the smooth and fair polling process on April 18 in 15-Udupi-Chickmagaluru Lok Sabha constituency. The polling with be held between morning 7 am to 6pm evening in all related polling booths, said Chief Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district Hephsiba Rani Korlapati.

Addressing a press meet at her office, Rajathadri , Manipal here on Tuesday, April 16, Korlapati said that there are 15,13,231 voters, out of that 738503 are male and 774674 are female and others 54 voters. There are total 1837 polling booths in both the district i.e. Udupi and Chickmagaluru. Total voters in Kundapur are 203279, out of that 97692 are men and 105585 are women and other is two. Total polling stations are 222. In Udupi legislative constituency total number of voters are 209504, out of which 101386 are men and 108116 are women and two are others. Total polling booths are 226. In Kaup legislative constituency total voters are 184101, out of which 87704 are men 96384 are women and 13 are others. Total polling booths are 208. In Karkala legislative constituency total voters are 183528, out of which 87915 are men and 95612 are women, one is other. Total polling booths are 209. In Shrengeri legislative constituency total voters are 165498, out of which 81605 are men and 83889 are women, 4 is other. Total polling booths are 256. In Mudigere legislative constituency total numbers of voters are 168774, out of which 83054 are men and 85711 are women, nine are other. In Chickmagaluru there are 214958, out of which 106964 are men and 107971 are women, 23 are other. Total polling booths are 257. In Tarikere legislative constituency total voters are 183589, out of which 92183 are men and 91406 are women, others are nil.

The voters’ list copies are given to all recognized national political parties as well as state political parties. All contesting candidates are given the voters list as well, she said. 25 polling stations have been identifies for SAKHI, 2 polling stations are set for special PWDs and 2 polling stations are in tribal areas in ethnic style.

Special attention will be taken to vulnerable polling booths and Critical polling booths. Special disabled voters will be provided special chairs, magnified glass, ramp, vehicle on demand, she said.

In order to successful fair and peaceful polling, polling booth officers and micro observer and security personnel were appointed. There are 996 presiding officers, 996 asst. presiding officer, 3^rd and 4^th polling officer are 1972, D class servicemen are 952, security officials are 1367 and micro observer are 206.

For every voters, election commission provided voter slip which contains photo and other details. Help desk can be used for any directions, she said.

155 buses, 21 mini buses, 47 Tempo Travellers/maxi cab, 13 jeeps and 8 Lorry containers are been arranged for polling personnel’s to be dispatched to their respective polling stations. All vehicles are installed GPS from St Cecily’s School to polling stations.

For the election purposes, EVM and VVPAT system has been done and all these machines are scrutinized. There are 1379 ballot units, 1280 control units and 1477 VVPAT are available.

Through C-VIGIL App, total numbers of complaints received are 222, out of which 178 complaints solved after the investigation. 44 complaints are dummy and 166 complaints solved within 100 minutes, she said.

From voters’ helpline, there are 1513 calls received and all complaints are solved. Through NGRS Portal, 97 complaints are received, out of which 90 complaints are solved, she said.

After the model code of conduct, up to April 15, there are Rs 25,30,910 amount of cash seized. After the produce of proper records, Rs. 23,50,290 cash was returned. The record under investigation of Rs. 1,80,620 is underway.

Up to April 15, Excise department seized 15,853.69 liters of liquor which cost Rs 64,38,722 with 3 truck and 4 two wheelers. Police department seized 11.7 litre of liquor which cost Rs 6,107.

In relation to model code of coduct, there are 45 flying squad for Udupi and 17 flying squad for Chickmagaluru district, 27 Static Surveillance team for Udupi and 33 for Chickmagaluru, One each for Release of cash, four each video viewing team, 12 video surveillance team each and sector officers for Udupi 72 and 102 for Chickmagaluru districts, she said.

A campaign by candidates amplifies during p-3 and p-2 day up to 48 hours from the close of poll, it will be ensured no party or candidate will include any activity which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities, religious or linguistic. There shall be no appeal to caste or communal feelings for securing votes.

She said that no canvassing within polling station or any public or private place within a distance of 100 meters of a polling station. Phones, cordless phones, highly technical wrist watches not to be allowed in the 100 meters of polling station.

From April 16 evening 6 pm to April 19 up to 6 pm dry day declared. Prior to 48 hours outstation campaigning persons should be returned from the district. Upto 19^th April, exist poll predictions banned.
