Udupi : Bro. Walter Martis of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi has been elected as President of Society of St. Vincent de Paul for Udupi Diocese.

The diocesan SSVP unit election was held at Don Bosco Hall, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

During the election which was conducted by Bro. Francis Victor Vice President of National Society of St Vincent de Paul and Central observer Bro. Amnnicio Fernandes, Co-ordinator of Western Region, India, originally from Goa.

Bro. Gracian Buthello Founder President of Central SSVP, Udupi Diocese was presided over the occasion. Rev Fr. Fredrick D’Souza, Spiritual Director of Diocesan SSVP conducted the starting prayers of the society and gave his keynote address. Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Spiritual Director of Udupi Church also spoke during the occasion.

Bro. Peter Martis, Vice President of Diocesan SSVP unit and co-ordinator of the election was present on the dais. Bro Gracian Buthello compered the programme. The eligible voters of the election were present.

The newly elected Diocesan President Walter Martis has presently President of Udupi Area Council as well as President of Mother of Sorrows Church Conference.
