Print Udupi : The Bharatiya Janata Party is heading for a landslide victory in Lok Sabha general elections 2019 while the vote count was underway on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in the Karnataka state in general elections 2019.
According to latest trends available at noon, the BJP is leading in 23 seats, Congress in three, JD(S) in one and an Independent backed by the BJP is ahead in one.
Independent and South Indian multi-lingual film actress Sumalatha Ambareesh is leading in Mandya over JD(S) contest Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and grandson of H D Devegowda.
Of the 28 seats, the BJP contested in 27 and supported Sumalatha Amareesh in Mandya while the Congress contested in 21 and the JD-S in seven, as part of their pre-poll seat sharing assignment.
In 2014 general elections, the BJP won 17, Congress nine and JD(S) two. Prominent leading BJP) candidates are leading in the state while prominent Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Karge, Muniyappa, Veerappa Moily, Pramod Madhwaraj and in JD(S) former prime minister Devegowda, Nikhil Kumaraswamy and others are trailing behind BJP’s candidates in the state.
