Udupi district topoped in the state in disposing complaints made on C-Vigil app, Deputy Commissioner

Udupi : In recently concluded Udupi-Chickmagalur parliamentary elections, Udupi district topped the state in disposing complaints made on the C-Vigil app, said Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, Smt Hephsiba Rani Korlapati.

She addressing a press conference at her office on Saturday, May 25, Korlapati said that there were 273 complaints received on the C-Vigil app in the district. Out of 270 complaints received 225 were genuine and as many as 211 complaints were disposed of in just 100 minutes, she said.

She gave sincere gratitude to all concerned officials, members of public, all political parties and the media people for ensuring safe, fair and peaceful just concluded parliamentary elections. She also gave sincere gratitude to police department, all district level officials, government officials who indulged in the election, bank officials, vehicles drivers, D class workers, CRPF members and various team heads and members for the smooth and peaceful election. The district administration had successfully implemented various measures to make the parliamentary election in Udupi an eco-friendly, she said.

There were 14 candidates with 26 nomination papers submitted and all nomination papers were found updated. Two candidates were taken back their nomination papers while 12 candidates remained for the contest.

The Electronic Voting Machines of all five assembly segments of Udupi district along with the statutory documents have been kept in the strong room of the District election officer at Manipal. A report in this regard has been sent to the Election Commission. The EVMs of four assembly segments of the Udupi-Chickmagalur parliamentary sear – Chickmagaluru, Sringeri, Tarikere and Mudigere-coming under Chikkamagaluru district, have already been transported to the District Elelction Officer of that district, she said.

To a query, DC said that there is ban on sand extraction from June 1 to July 31 as per a Union Government notification due to it is fish breeding season. The district administration is following rules and guidelines with regard to sand removal in the district. Instructions have already been given to the tahsildars, revenue inspectors, PDOs and Executive officers to take precautionary measures to prevent flooding, she said.

Another query on drinking water crisis in the city, Korlapati said that arrangements have been made to provide drinking water to the city. The pumping work near Baje dam is going on as usual and water rationing is on in the city. She also said that the schools will remain open on May 29 and provisions will be made for supplying water for midday meals, she said.

Nisha James Superintendent of Police, Vidyakumari Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district were present during the press conference.
