Udupi : The dedication ceremony of Suvarna Gopura or gold dome on the sanctum sanctorum at Sri Krishna temple held on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Seers of the Ashta Maths performed the Suvarna Gopura Shikara Pratishte and Sahasra Rajatha Kalashibhisheka.

The dream of Sri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Palimar Math has fulfilled to dedicating 100 kg of gold for the sanctum sanctorum at around 800 years old of Sri Krishna temple/math here at Udupi. The construction of the Suvarna Gopura is an ambitious project of Palimar Math seer Vidydheesha Theertha Swami during his second paryaya. Under this project the roof of the gopura (dome) of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple has been adorned with sheets made from 300 kg of copper, 900 kg of silver and over 100 kg of gold. The copper sheet has been laid on teak wood structure of the gopura and has been covered with silver sheet and topped with a gold sheet. Gold in 23 carat has been so that the sheet is strong and retains its colour.

The Sarvamoola religious texts written by the exponent of Dwaita philosophy Sri Madhwacharya have been printed on the copper sheet using laser technology. The total cost of this Suvarna gopura is about Rs. 40 crore. A team of 36 artisans worked under Venketesh Sheth to construct the Suvarna Gopura and as many as 25 carpenters were involved in this work the last six months.

Prior to the dedication of Suvarna Gopura, various religious rituals were held at the Sri Krishna temple. During the dedication ceremony Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami of Pejawar Math, Vidyadheesha Theertha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Math, Vishwapriya Theertha Swami of Admar Math, Vidyavallabha Theertha Swami of Kaniyoor Math, Vishwavallabha Theertha Swami of Sode Math, Vishwaprasannha Theertha Swami Junior seer of Pejawar Math, Ishapriya Theertha Swami Junion seer of Admar Math, Vidyarajeshwara Theertha Swami Junior seer of Palimar Math were participated in the religious rituals.
